| Plaid Cymru's grand plan 18:08 - Feb 8 with 4202 views | SullutaCreturned | https://www.walesonline.co.uk/ Now here's the thing, the Senedd says they won't raise taxes because we are in a cost of living crisis and they cannot ask people to pay more. It's a funny old game, politics though. I say that because they always say Westminster should give us more money. The only way for that to happen is for Westminster to raise taxes and if they did, what do we reckon Drakeford would say? I reckon he'd criticise the goverment for raising taxes and no matter how much extra came Wales way, it still wouldn't be enough. For the record, if the Senedd raised taxes in Wales, lets say by what Plaid suggest, I'd be OK with it, if the money was spent wisely. Vhanged it, should have been paying closer attention! | Plaid Cymru's grand plan on 10:56 - Feb 15 by Joesus_Of_Narbereth | My memory of the details are very sketchy but there was a perfectly legal but morally abhorrent scheme where US companies would register their profits in Ireland but the company holding those profits would be an Irish registered company in Bermuda. It was known colloquially as a “dirty double Irish sandwich” or something along those lines. This artificially inflates the GDP figure. They showed about 30% growth for one year because some us tax rule changed causing US companies to pump more money through but the tax take barely increased at all. It’s all a bit of a farce really. Ireland remains a lovely but largely agrarian and craic loving nation but their economy is an absolute basket case. |
The largest English speaking nation in the EU is a winning formula for investment.

More people speak English in Germany and the Netherlands than Ireland. You can even get that right.

What are they investing in? Billions if not trillions flow into Ireland because of huge companies like Amazon setting up their operations there to register their profits there but they only employ a few thousand people most of whom will be on a relatively low wage. What is that money invested in? Most of it gets hidden and hoarded, you might get a tiny little bit trickle down but it’s still essentially just a country full of farmers, piss heads and priests. It’s a great country with fantastic people and is getting on just fine but these economic figures are grossly over exaggerated

Will stop from April. In December the EU agreed to implement a minimum corporation tax across the whole EU after much negotiations and threats to veto. Minimum corporate tax will be 15% so low corporation tax countries like Ireland snd Hungary will have to raise their corporation take. Seems only fair that companies are taxed where they make their profits not in tax havens like Ireland.

Especially when they bomb women and children. They are not so keen to take on the army or the SAS.
