Russell Martin and the reasons why he needs more time at Swansea ! 24th Mar 2023 10:39
If only life was as simple as having no bad news ? And when we had that news it would always be something positive to end with ? Earlier today we received a note from the coastguard in Falmouth that an old bottle from many years ago had been found. In this bottle was a note, a scripture if you like and on closer inspection it came from Jack Butty. 1

Cobblers. All of it and no that’s not what’s keeping your ears apart either.

You can’t legislate for costly individual errors. That’s been an issue for a few months. And that’s why changes to the team have been made. The style is good. We have shown that in patches albeit too many errors have stopped our progress. Millwall recently being a good example.

That'syour opinion, others will disagree and I certainly do.

The vast majority of this season has been boring, predictable tripe.

Those individual errors would have been avoided if we werent playing so many high risk passes across our back line. Since WBA away there have only been3-4 games I could describe as exciting. Several more have been frustrating, annoying and disappointing as we shot ourselves in the foot, needlessly, time and again.

I mean, Millwall, we managed to put together a decent 90 minutes against them but over 2 matches. We should have beaten them both times but we can't even win games when we are ahead and the better team, we commit footballing suicide.

Maybe Dr P can find this out but I reckon Man City play more long balls than us. I just can't be bothered to look.

We beat Bristol but it was a poor show from them and we still managed to gift them enough chances to worry us. What is just as bad is, when we make mistakes we always seem to get punished but when the oppo do it we often fail to take advantage. Maybe because we are too cautious going forward but reckless at the back?

When it consistently happens over 18 months it stops being "individual errors" and starts becoming systemic ones. Obviously some people are catastrophically stupid and that simple concept will never will register with them, but most will understand it eventually.

I mean, September 2021 we went 3-0 down to Luton because of obvious issues with the way the team were sent out to play, but 18 months and many similar defensive displays later there are still people dense enough to think that management aren't part of the problem.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

“When it consistently happens over 18 months it stops being "individual errors" and starts becoming systemic ones.”

More like 4 years. “Individual errors” has been his excuse since he entered management.

The concerning thing is, he hasn’t been able to work out why they keep happening and address it. Sadly that comes from an aversion to culpability and a culture of blame shifting he has helped instil.
