| The thing about Drakeford 20:54 - Apr 29 with 3507 views | SullutaCreturned | In the authors own words...Welsh Labour loves to point out that it is the most successful democratic party of the past century, always being the biggest party in Wales. But this continuous autopiloting into brushing away any legitimate criticism with indignation and patronising words is exactly the same entitlement and “we have a right to rule” mentality that is levelled against the Tories in England. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/ | | | | |

| The thing about Drakeford on 22:04 - Jun 13 by Kilkennyjack | Well the world will embrace net zero green technologies to avoid the weather extremes and save the planet. The path you are suggesting is …. Do nothing, bury our heads in the sand and shout at the clouds that all the science is quite wrong. London will always look after us anyway so we dont care. Or ….. Invest in the new age of green tech, skill ourselves up as a modern nation and generate our own renewable energy future whilst selling what we have learned to other nations. A small nation with tidal and wind in abundance is very well placed. Have a think …. Its a tough one to call …. |
Just as well it is the UK government and business that are investing in green technologies in Wales rather than the Welsh government. 3rd April " UK government invests £160 millions in green energy pilot projects in Wales" [Post edited 14 Jun 2023 7:36]

Well maybe you should have a think, until the worlds biggest polluters actually step into line with the green efforts it is absolutely a waste of time and money for the UK let alone Wales. China has been increasing it's pollution output by so much that the increaae alone is more than the Uk's potential savings so pointless, yes definitely. it's not the path I'm suggesting, I'm all for doing something to save the planet but until the worlds biggest polluters actually do their bit it is just an expensive folly for the UK. Taking the moral high ground in the middle of a cost of living crisis, paying all these green taxes when nothing appears to be happening, really what is the point. 45% of a litre of fuel is tax. There are green levies on electricity and gas, we have congestion charges, spped limit reductions that make no sense and just what improvements have we seen in Wales?

If the UK achieves net zero, (other than making us poorer and the rich richer), it will have no significant effect on climate change.

Every two years India's CO2 production increases by more than the UK produces.

Exactly, what you said and JACKMANANDBOY's posts are THE point. Saving the planet shouldn't be a negotiable thing, anybody with any sense should be 100% in this fight BUT when what we do by ourselves has absolutely ZERO positive effect as the big polluters keep increasing their output, then what is the point? All we see are more expensive bills, more hyperbole from politicians and no real gains the peole can notice. Lets talk about electric cars. Sales have plummeted as people realise they don't give anywhere near the promised mileage, they are very expensive with batteries that may need replacing in 5-10 years at a cost of thousands and even if you can afford one, where is the infrastructure for you to navigate the UK successfully?

The other issue of the uk achieving net zero that I don’t really get is how does that sit with us having sent so many manufacturing jobs abroad? How does it work if we keep buying stuff from Asia and the subcontinent? I don’t think we can just look down on the likes of China and India when all we’ve done is push our issues over there. As Catt says, it needs a global solution but the world isn’t very good at playing nicely together at the mo. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

As somebody very famous once said …. If you want to see change, then be the change …. Once the renewables are cheaper than lugging coal across continents and extracting oil from the Seas, then India and China will become huge markets for the Wests new green tech. You carry on with your pick and shovel good boy …. Anyone really concerned about a UK cost of living crises would support rejoining the EU.

Why the EU has a cost of living crisis as well with high inflation and of course unemployment 50% higher than the UK. Every sane person knows the cost of living crisis is global and as global causes. I have listed below, for the simple minded. Global supply shortages following recovery from Covoid. Global increase in shipping costs following the recovery from Covoid at one point up 400% Global increase of oil prices following recovery from Covoid Global increase in both gas and oil prices following Russian invasion of Ukraine Global increase in food priced following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and blockade of Ukrainian Black Sea ports. China is already the World leader in green energy. It is why we import all our solar panels from there It us official Wales Labour policy to import Coal from overseas as Drakeford has banned coal production in Wales despite Port Talbot's need to make high quality steel which needs coal . Drakeford is also trying to close down Wales only anthracite mine. Anthracite us used in all of tte UK sewage plants to filter sewage. Guess the professor does not know this. He would rather loose Welsh jobs and import it.

Your lastline is utter nonsense. maybe you should learn some facts before posting yet more nonsense, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/bus So tell me, how will rejoining the EU help when some of their members are more expensive than us? Rejoining could actually push our prices up. As for the rest, renenwables are not going to be cheaper, they are heavilynsubsidised and all our bills re higher as a result, the money men won't let that slip without a fight. Those same money men won't let change happen until it suits them, until they can make even more money from it. As if China or Inda care about going green and they won't, not as long as those in power keep getting richer. keep gaining more power. It seems you still don't understand how the world works. Money buys power, that power does as the money instructs and the rest of us pick up the bills and suffer the consequences. Th change that we need a global revolution.
