I expect the new manager will chat to the likes of Potter, Cooper and maybe even Martin - what do you think they will say on how to succeed at the club remembering the difficult transfer windows we have experienced in recent years.

| Advice to the new manager on 16:43 - Jun 14 by SullutaCreturned | it won't matter if grimes thinks Martiin will be gone by Christmas, if he's offered a 4 years deal there on more money he'll go. They will be one of the promo favourites and he will be Captain under Martin. Money talks more than ever these days, players don't even hide it, that's why Wrexham signed that Mullin, because they offered more money than the league One clubs could offer so he dropped down 2 divisions. |
Money has always been able to draw players away regardless of success of a team or lack of it. The draw for younger players it to get the highest level possible and sustain that level increasing earnings but as some have found out the grass isn't always greener, for some it has. We have seen the effect of players coming back either to get regular football and learn their trade properly or return to help "their" club ensuring certian standards or qualities are maintained, Allen's return is an example older player who never going to play a full season without injury but shows how a central midfield should be playing like and passing experience on to seemingly good effect. Given the run we had from October to April this last season I think Martin was backed other clubs would have sacked him early on during that run. Lets just spend spend spend monies we dont have ....Russ's record on players wasnt great apart from Downes Fisher a disaster then benched ,Darling brought here as one of most expensive transfers in post PL times benched , Sorinola need I go on

Would some of these players brought in have been more effective in a team set up differently. Don't think the spine of the was strong enough especially when needing to cover positions or setups they weruntrained or uncomfortable with. Unforgiving manger meant players weren't allowed to correct their mistakes. Darling got caught in one game wide and being last man with the ball over the top tried to control the ball but lost out to the pressure from the forward and the bouncing ball, Carbango got him out of a hole the first time, Fulton didn't see the danger so didn't account for Darling's mistake and didn't cover properly, the opposition scored, following game similar position on the opposite side, cleared the ball to touch so team did not get caught on the break, learnt from previous games mistake? Iin my opinion yes, dropped next game. At times same mistakes time after time didn't the coaching setup help there young wards?
