Mr Duff has had a good look at his squad andsays not surprisngly the kids and not ready. Only Brandon Coper has significant professional game time. He cannot ue 6 rookies all at once.

Duff will have been told exactly what the situation is when he took over. He'll know that his budget largely depends on the sale of Piroe. He's made public comments about the work he did at Cheltenham on a tight budget, so it's not as if he's been promised millions and then denied them as plenty of people (not you) regularly keep claiming about managers. Ideally Piroe would have gone by now and we'd be further along. There's not much the club can do about that if the offers simply aren't there.
It's not going to be a quick fix in any case though. We've had four years of any semblance of pace and width being stripped out of the team by Cooper and Martin. That's going to be hard to fix in one window on a limited budget. |

Because we do need players? Are you suggesting that he took over thinking that he didn't need to make any signings at all or that we told him the squad was fine as it was?
He'd have come in having a good idea what the shortcomings are. Obviously he did as two of our first signings were wide players. Now he's had a good look at everything he has and knows for sure where he'd like to strengthen. Five or six bodies, at least two of whom will probably be in next week. The rest dependent upon what sort of budget is available to him. The names will obviously change if Piroe money comes in.
I don't get why people keep pushing the "Managers are being lied to!" nonsense. Actually, strike that. I do get why. It makes things far more convenient for them if there's a villain to blame.
Football is a small world. If managers were actually being misinformed and generally treated with the level of contempt that some people seem to believe then word would get round and coaches with Duff's reputation wouldn't be jumping ship to come and work here.

I agree he came in knowing that he needed players, for 1. We have lost several players when the season ended, 2. He plays a formation that requires rapid wingbacks and we don't have any and 3. I suspect he would have watched videos of our games last season.
As you say we signed 2 quickly but I suspect he knew 2 weeks ago that we needed a few more, he told watson, watson identified said players, he told coleman who in turn told levein who then refused to sanction these signings.
This leaving it late or not even bothering for whatever reason is happening too often and this is the reason that most jacks are getting p!ssed off with the owners, it isn't a convenient excuse, it's evident. | | | |
