New version for new season as Sheff Wed enter transfer embargo...
Old thread here...
Rest of the Championship thread by Hunterhoop10 Aug 2024 11:07 Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc?
For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te?
Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull.
Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

It's not bad luck, it's something they could fix if they were bothered to do it!
The pitch at Ewood does fall away sharply at the ends and the sides which you would think would help drainage but there is a river right next to the ground, so maybe a water table issue.

Nobody wants to see these kind of scenes*
*of course we do!
That should lead to fines for both for failing to control their players. A pity they won't get points deductions. Ideally, enough to take them both below us.

Consistency is the holy grail in sport, and you have to credit Alex Neil for consistently being an absolute ar sehole for what seems like about the last twenty years now. Week-in, week-out, just out there being an annoying, chippy twa t.
Struber says he tried to shake Neil's hand twice, Neil says Struber blanked him... my instinct tells me Alex Neil is a cu nt.
Not sure how Millwall won that today. Very limited going forward, big lumps and solid at the back. I know the Championship isn't the home of total football, but I'd be very surprised to see Millwall finish in the top six.
Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts

I reckon there's one spot in the top six up for grabs.
Stoke & Preston will fall away, Saints will make it in, Millwall actually get playoffs for once.
Leaving one spot for the likes of Birmingham/Bristol City even Sheffield United...and perhaps even us to aim for.
This squad should certainly be good enough to hang on to our current place of 10th. Add a GK and Edwards into the mix in January and we should be setting our sights on 6th.

I think Sheff U are nailed on for top six unfortunately.
Sheffield United have won all four games since playing us, scoring 13 goals, conceding 2 and absolutely hammering Portsmouth and Stoke at home.
So maybe that 0-0 wasn't the insulting let-down and dereliction of duty I learnt of (only) here. And maybe that point could prove important, and when JS said it was good to keep the gap between us and Sheffield United maybe he meant not in the relegation spots, but something higher up.
Everything is still to play for this season. Top six will totally change by May, as will bottom three. Have to keep accumulating no matter how pretty or ugly.

Yeh, I came out of that game cross but it looks like a better result with each passing week, hands up.

Tbf, given that we were all expected to believe that Watford were championship contenders under Ainsworth, I think a little skepticism is warranted from time to time

What I love about the ‘long shot’ pic at the top, was that the three Milwall players in view were busting a gut to get to the sideline (I’m sure to ‘mediate’) while the two BC, players were just standing there, hands on hips. Tells us all we need to know, methinks.
