If he hadn't missed that sitter early doors, it could have been a different game and people may have had a different opinion of him.

In hindsight and for our result, it was a good miss !! :-)

You learn more from your mistakes.
Let’s not condemn anyone, we all make them.

That may be but he should never be starting
No secret that a tall physical number 9 works in the championship
And two of them causes defences all sorts of problems
Larin putting himself about when he came on really helped us get that result

Stewart was only meant to play 20-30 minutes according to the medical team. We all know what has happened before with his injuries so to start him again would have been irresponsible after Saturday when he looked off the pace. Larin is new and getting up to speed and if anything happens to either of them we are left with Archer. Given our failure to get another striker meant we stopped his loan to Rangers, he has to be reintegrated into the squad and his confidence re-built so it wasn't unreasonable to start him last night. Despite his initial miss - like so many championship strikers - he wasn't responsible for the first half performance which highlighted Peretz's limitations, overused youngsters like Jander and Fellows and a team that struggled after the Watford game. Given our general mental fragility our comeback was remarkable but owed much to a similar fragility in Leicester.

We won. I wonder if we'd still have won if he'd started with the lineup we finished with last night? We might well have witnessed Saints collapsing after the subs were made and Leicester coming back to win.

The thing about Eckert is he wins a higher percentage of games than other Saints managers. He brings on subs as finishers to win games when the opposition is tiring, as he did in our last 2 games. We might not agree with all of his decisions but he clearly knows how to win games better than any other manager we've ever had.

Archer doesn't have the ability to play as a CF, he's sh1t at it, but you're right, that's unfortunately what we have to do.

As I said on the Larin thread, we are still dependent on Ross Stewart staying fit. That's the key thing. He is our first choice CF and if he is unavailable, it's unlikely that Larin can do the whole job on his own.

Listened to Going home with Adam and Jo and they were saying that Stewart should have started, even though the medical team were saying that he should only do 30 mins! What a pair of fvkin morons. I'm not surprised at Blackmore but I am surprised Tessem would be so dumb.

It's not about him being "too tired", it's about the risk to his muscles. Micro tears happen naturally in very game, it happens to everyone. They build up without rest and gradually weaken the muscle. Some are more at risk than others of those micro tears leading to a big muscle tear. Unfortunately that's where Stewart is.

Contrary to what the radio morons say, it would be idiotic to overplay Stewart because we'll just lose him again, like we did earlier in the season and we saw what happened then. Larin has improved this situation, but he hasn't fundamentally changed it, and he has his own fitness issues.

So, unfortunately we'll have to use Archer at times. It would have been great if we'd managed to swap him for a proper CF in January but we are where we are. Archer is just one of those SR cock ups that we have to live with for now.

we are well past the time when we can take chances by playing the likes of archer,we have to get points every game or the play offs are screwed.Yesterdays first half performance smacked of players wondering what the f+ck is he doing in the team,a wantaway waste of space

Stewart was unavailable to start, looks like Larin is also not fully fit, Oyekunle doesn't look ready for it, so who would you have started? You say we're past the time when we can take chances, but who could have played that we weren't taking a chance on?

of course stewart can start perhaps he cant play the full game, why couldnt our centre forwards play a half each, surely they can manage that.

Archer was f**k all to do with us being 3 down...as you were there, you would have seen who was. Eckert gave Stewart half the game (probably all he was ever going to get)

Eckert then shepherd's crooked the people who were actually responsible for the first half debacle.

The team then played their socks off to get a great win.

Why are you so angry ?

Tonda was told by the medical team not to play Ross for more than 30 mins. You want a starter to come off after 30? In the end he played for 45 because of the circumstances, but that was a risk and we don't know what the full effects were yet.

Each time he plays he accumulates damage which builds up without rest. You can't see it on a scan because the tears are too small but they're there. Maybe the next game will be when the accumulated damage goes pop, like it did in October and has done several times before. Keep playing him twice in 4 days and it will happen at some point.

Larin looks unfit and can't do anywhere near 90
Stewart is fragile and apparently could only do a half
D Downs has been loaned
Arma sold

In the circumstances it was Archer, the youngster who came on at Stoke, or perhaps the new 17 year old signing from Stoke - or recall BBD ?

I'm not really a fan of Archer, but last night it was needs must until the changes could be made - for reasons already stated. I know he doesn't offer much as an outlet, or for bringing others into play, but being 3-0 down at HT wasn't all down to Archer. Awful defending, a back pass gift and 3 shots on target - 3 goals conceded spring to mind !!

Anyway, it was all part of the master plan and the subs once ready to come on. all played their parts in overseeing the operation.

Double done ✅
Shame Vesty wasn't playing 😊
Shame they only got a 6 point deduction
Expect they have enough to avoid the drop - hopefully at the Skates expense

The match stats are ridiculously one-sided in Saints favour. It should have been a comfortable victory but we missed chances and our goalkeeper didn't make a single save.

Shots: Leicester 6 Saints 16

Shots on target: Leicester 3 Saints 7

Corners: Leicester 3 Saints 9

Touches inside the opposition box: Leicester 14 Saints 32

Total crosses: Leicester 7 Saints 25
