Only for teams with "grade" 1 academies. What "grade" are we and how do we get a higher ranking?

I sincerely hope we haven't spent millions on our youth facilities and not attained this 'Grade 1'. What a complete farce that would be.

We're not grade one yet as far as I know, but are working towards becoming so.

Are we working towards it in the same way we are working towards the stadium expansion?

Just to clarify this is not a tongue in cheek or sarcastic post. This surely should be our main priority considering the teams with this Category 1 status will benefit most under the new proposals from the F.A?

I don't know, Dwight. But I'd imagine something that's completely within our control (attaining academy status) should be easier to achieve than something that isn't (expanding the stadium).

We had to spend millions just to get to the stage we are now. Pretty issue that Cat 1 status demands accommodation, which we are apparently trying to sort now.

It also asks for increased full time staff.

Huge costs involved, but if we were to run the academy like Southampton, we'd easily get similar results, given the size of our catchment area and the lack of competition.

I'm not the biggest fan of EPPP by the way, the system is a farce and it's set up to preserve the status quo IMO

Well actually whilst we are on the subject:

On a serious note, we should produce far more talent than we do

What they lack to become category 1 is an indoor facility.

I believe review of status is on a 2 year cycle as well, so who knows if we've ever been reviewed for Grade 1

We achieved Category 1 status in 2013 and at the time, said we were hoping to get Category 1 status within 3 years.
