Back pain sufferers on 22:26 - Aug 11 with 1313 views | swansea101 | Most simple back issues come from weak back muscles, either your Lats ( back of your shoulders down to your hips ) glutes ( your ass) or your hamstrings are strong/tight and for easier for them to pull smaller muscles out of place, than relax, thus causing that tight back pain. Get a foam roller/hockey ball and smash whatever's tight to loosen up and make sure you stretch loads. Why would you not lift weights if you had some sort of issue, building strong core is only going to take the wear and tear off joints as your body is more able to support itself

Lower back pain as always been an issue for me, I've been back on a fitness trend lately and its helped my back. planks and side planks are very good, I had some pain on my left side at waist band level and cause I'm on the Athlean mailing list that vid came through so I tried it after the 3rd day of doing the stretches he recommends the following morning the pain was gone, those stretches are part of my warm up now, they work and I'm 55 so they'll work for everyone in my opinion assuming that you don't suffer from a serious back problem, they are purely for muscular problems.

Lifting weights sorted my back out. Struggled since my late teens due to a slight curve in my spine, finally suffered a spasm on my 30s so after years of occasional osteopathy, Physio, acupuncture, brufen, etc it was the deadlifts and squats that sorted me out. Like someone said above about Pilates - same thing but with loads of weight on the bar.
