It’s estimated that the British isles has been invaded or survived an invasion attempt over 70 times since the Norman conquest, usually by those pesky french. The most recent of course being the battle of Fishguard unless you include the Nazi occupation in the Channel Islands. The greeks and the Turks were fighting each other as far back as troy. We in Britain meanwhile were in our mid huts. At least the British freeded most of the Mediterranean from the Italians germans and otterman in two world wars.
