Sacked my Pafos! Didn't know that.

I'd be getting Jack Evans back over here and asking Flynn to take him off our hands on loan. He's wasting his career at the moment and it's sad to see.

Jack does not need to leave lovely Cyprus. I would be doing extra sessions to impress the new coach if I was him. He has a contract with them.

They won yesterday as well. Jack played his first 90 in the league, and has a chance of more games now after Sam Hutchinson's red card and suspension.

Two positive covid tests in the squad today. Cyprus going into lockdown now after a period of letting fans into games.

They spent a lot of money on players and haven't started well. I watched one of their games a few weeks ago and it was flat, tedious stuff. Couldn't break down a much weaker/poorer side.

What's the standard like in general over there?

Mixed. A few decent sides with money from playing in Europe every year (APOEL being one). 15th/16th in UEFA coefficient, which makes it a "stronger" league than some we'd probably think of as decent standards (Switzerland, Greece, Czech Rep). But I think there's a big gap between top half rich sides and bottom half poor ones. Pafos are closer to the top end in budget, and have signed players from all over the world in recent years. Mostly free transfers but they pay the wages to get them there.

A visual aid:

Seems a bizzare decision, he was lauded for saving them last year after they put together the best string of results in their history and he was sacked after a 1-0 away win against last years Champions after his team was reduced to 10 men at the start of the second half.

Last 6 matched being 3 wins a draw and 2 defeats.

Sounds like he was rebuilding the team, therefore they would take a bit if time to gell.

Seems a dumb decision.

Need to see if he or Gary will come back to the u23s. Beaten 4-0 by Hull today.

Club trying its best to hide we even have development sides this season. Pathetic the lack of coverage.

Shocking isn't it. Got to find out most of the information from the opposition's Twitter accounts

Quite a young side this year though isn’t it? Need to expect some hammering unfortunately.

very corrupt league over here, he probably got sacked for winning the game when the money was all on Apoel

Been a "very young side" for three seasons now. We keep using that excuse as if we're unique for not having a packed house of 19/20/21 year olds. In our successful u23s seasons we had one of the oldest u23s sides around, if anything we're closer to the norm now, especially now we're in the Cat 2 PDL.

Haven't seen a full teamsheet but we supposedly had Searle, Pinchard, Rushesha, Oli Cooper, Al-Hamadi and Ludvigsen playing. Only one of those is an u18s-qualified player not on a pro deal.

I don't think it's a particularly strong group at the moment, the exciting players are yet to come, but 4-0 at Hull is a bad result whichever way you cut it.

I always said I felt we were prioritising winning things at u23 level instead of actually bringing players through, the age of side just felt too old. I was proved wrong obviously with the success those still players had when coming into first team set up and earning us millions.

I suppose it’s a balancing act. Never heard of any of the Hull scorers either so not sure they had any first team lads out.

Martin Samuelson is 23 was at West Ham for years. Lots of loans. Not an u23s player, the year above now. Sean Mcloughlin in defence over 23 as well, 7 championship games under his belt.

Maybe I did us a disservice, Hull had a lot of 19 & 20 year olds in their lineup.

I thought the same.

The signing of Dan and Oli was both a short cut to age group success, and future transfer riches.
Shrewd and good business.

All the many others brought in ‘bombed‘, and blocked player development of our local players.
That reality should not get lost.

No idea why the Swans would want Toshack and Richards back.
They walked when Swans picked Cooper.
I doubt they would fancy it without money to bring in players developed elsewhere.

Our club will look forward not backwards.

Beware of the Risen People

Jack back on the bench for the new manager's first game, despite Hutchinson's suspension.

I’d like to see him back here and in first team squad, he’ll get game time with this schedule.

CT has added to his CV with 6 months managerial experience alongside Gary Richards with some decent statistics at least. Jack Evans has a contract out there so has no need to return. until next May.

Yeah but why would we keep him out there warming the bench? Hopefully he can turn things around out there.
