Welsh footballer Ched Evans has received an out of court settlement from the lawyers who represented him in his original rape trial.
The former Sheffield United and Manchester City striker was found guilty of rape in 2012 after he was accused of raping a woman at a Premier Inn near Rhyl in 2011.
He served half of a five-year prison sentence before being released but in April 2016 his conviction was quashed by the Court of Appeal and a retrial was ordered.
In October 2016, Mr Evans, 29, was found not guilty of rape at Cardiff Crown Court and was cleared of all wrongdoing.
He also claimed he had suffered from loss of earning after his football career with Sheffield United and Wales was cut off in its prime.
A statement released on behalf of Ched Evans revealed the case would now not be reaching court after he had accepted an out of court settlement.
It said: "In late 2016 Ched began litigation against his original defence team of Matthew Bennett and Stuart Ripley of Brabners LLP for negligent defence. On Thursday 4 April 2019 Ched accepted an out of court settlement."
WalesOnline understands that settlement is "significantly below" the sum of £1m which has been reported elsewhere and is around £800,000.

A spokesperson for Brabners said: "We are glad that Ched Evans has agreed not to pursue this case, which we believe was entirely without merit.
"Brabners put forward a strong defence of Mr Evans' claim following a thorough process and we were prepared to vigorously defend our handling of the case."
Rhyl-born Mr Evans is currently on loan to Fleetwood Town from Sheffield United.
He was due to take his previous solicitors Matthew Bennett and former Blackburn Rover footballer Stuart Ripley of Brabens LLP to court for negligent defence, after claiming he was badly advised during his initial trial in 2012. |  |
