Talk of a £12M fee, a five year deal with a 15% sell on clause, Fulham favourites to win the championship, that is what the Swans are up against this coming season.

I’d be slightly more concerned about a championship side forking out 12M for a reserve team player. Highly unlikely a PL team would have been near that transfer at that cost, if at all….. and in covid times. It’s going mental and no one is talking about it.

Premier League Burnley was reported as offering 12 million plus for Wilson last season but Liverpool apparently wanted more and the deal collapsed.

Which would imply that a season in Cardiff wiped at least £4mill off his valuation…

Yes, i thought a couple million had been wiped off after his Kaardiff stint when I seen his sale price taking into account he is a year older.

Wilson is an interesting case in terms of his projected and actual value, especially during Covid times. Didn’t have the best of seasons in the top flight with Bournemouth, but it was the season they got relegated where they struggled immensely with injuries and an overall malaise crept into the squad. Wilson was by no means the issue with the team, and actually had pretty good underlying numbers when context was taken into account. But, clearly did not excel in the way many would have expected or wanted him to. The jury is out in terms of how much he can contribute in the PL, and it would depend heavily on the players around him and the style of play his manager chose to implement. Definitely needs the right system and personnel to bring out the best in him, but he is far from the only footballer you can say that about. But in terms of his production in the Championship, he’s a proven star. In two and a half seasons with Cardiff, Derby and Hull he has scored 32 goals and laid on 22 assists in just 102 appearances across all competitions. That’s more than one goal contribution every other match, which is elite. He’s a bit like Ayew in that his game is mostly built around movement and timing, and he’s not a dribbler, top athlete or someone to just give the ball to and watch him work. He’s a smart, tidy footballer, someone who needs his teammates on the same wavelength or he struggles to make his mark or influence the game. But he’s got a rocket left foot and is a deadball specialist, so there will always be a place for him. It will be interesting to see how he fits at Fulham under Silva, and the hope is that he can start showing more on the international stage. Finally got his permanent move after a couple failed attempts, so big season for young Harry. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Grimes and Wilson? Forgive me not shaking in my boots. That could well be promotion chucked down the toilet with a 16m quid accompaniment. Not poor players but that’s a Mid table midfield right there.

They’ve employed a very overrated manager so I wasn’t expecting them to make the top 2. They do have a very decent championship squad.

I would not disagree with there being a premium on players from big teams but I would say that Wilson is worth is 15M-18M.

Trampie tends to put £5 Million extra on if they are Welsh, and less if they are English
