Drugs are rife in all sports, it will all reveal itself one day. But there is interest in protecting the big names and making examples of the smaller ones or the ones no longer as valuable to show that the sport is combating the issue. A little known fact, and very little talked about fact is when anti doping agency turned up at Serenas house, she locked herself in her panic room and refused to come out. She later said she thought intruders had turned up. It all mysteriously went away and was brushed under the carpet. This was back in 2011 ish. Drugs in tennis is rife, and the technique of blood doping when injured. A lot of it is done by doctor prescribed drugs (DUE’s - Drug Use Exemptions) and is an open secret in tennis - but they are the players “personal doctor”. Like Sharapova was taking Meldonium, a banned substance that increased oxygen in the blood (although not banned when she started taking it). There are many substances which are legal if medically prescribed. There is a very famous (infamous) doctor in America, Dr Eric Serrano. He has a nickname on the tour of “doctor dope”. He has dozens of top tennis players on his list of “patients”. It will all come out one day. | |
