Hamer, Manning, Bennett, Whittaker were all out of favour under Cooper who preferred his loan picks, but are now showing their qualities. The attacking trio of Piroe, Ntcham and Patterson are delivering and Downes sounds like a managers pick as are the loan players. There is clearly more to come from Walsh and Obafemi. The doom and gloom over Walsh's lack of fitness have been exaggerated on here. Joseph, Cooper and Garrick are all fit and playing every week on loan along with Cameron Evans who is often forgotten about. They all need to get 100 games under their belts There have been no duffers for quite some time. All in all the club looks in good fettle ready to push up the league.

Bennett has started 66% of games under Martin when he has been available. Bennett started 80% of games last season under Cooper when available. Whittaker has started 0% of games under Martin when he has been available. Whittaker started 15% of games last season under Cooper when available. Manning plays more though, agreed. Common sense considering he had to get past Guehi... and of course Hamer is playing now due to the Premier League keeper we had last season going back to Newcastle. Hamer was signed mid season after playing very little football and not realistic to put him in. Other than that, yeah. [Post edited 31 Oct 2021 21:57]

It's staggering the nonsense that gets thought up on here. It's constant too.

I am not an obsessive train spotter type pouring over data to check my comments. I may have assumed Bennett was out of favour when actually he was injured. Whittaker will likely now see more action based on Martin's words. Hamer could easily have played. Goalkeepers getup to speed pretty quickly and Woodman's stock has fallen off a cliff and did not have a lot of fans in the fan base. Hamer has been better than expected especially in the Martin style.

You don't have to be obsessive or a train spotter, just a general grasp of reality would have made you think again before pressing send. I knew it was ''off'' immediately, I then checked to see exactly how far off. Did you call for Hamer to play last season? Or at the start of this one out of interest? (Don't bother checking, you didn't).

Should we close/reduce our Academy if buying in is the model to bring us first team success ….?

'sorry, I was wrong' would have sufficed.
