It looks like being another tumultuous year. The Russians might be about to invade the Ukraine. The EU is having lots of infighting, Poland demanding war reparations from Germany, nationalist leaders meeting about forcing change in Brussels, Belarus making threats about gas supplies and even France is getting uppity with the EU who in turn are taking legal action against member states over bilateral agreements. All that and inflation is rising steadily while the Euro is being accused of forcing high living costs on member states. Omicron is set to sweep the world.
Then we have China making more noises about Taiwan and carrying out large scale military manoeuvres across the Taiwan strait.
I suppose at least the UK economy looks set to do well and there are plenty of jobs available.
Yes, but we didn't have wall to wall 24-hour news and even graphic images being posted on social media. These days it's a bit more dangerous too what with nuclear weapons and bioweapons. Not forgetting that so many countries are reliant on supplies from countries far away, like Europe's gas supplies from Russia and oil from the far east.
The Eu was meant to bring harmony to Europe, so they say but even in there they have prodded Russia, annoyed the dictator in Belarus and are arguing amongst themselves because eventually every country looks to its own needs. Such is human nature.

You weren't around in 1962 though with Cuba and Russia clearly provoking Kennedy. Mother Russia still at it.

I do wonder for how much longer in the future (with the global economy) these nations can carry on acting up like this. Russia have been very provocative out in the ocean with our fleet testing our resolve. I just don't get it with what is at stake.

It's complete lunacy. If a proper world war broke out again, everybody would lose but the survivors would either spend decades underground or die a slow, agonising death. Not for nothing is it called M.A.D.
The problem is the people who have risen to power, Putin and Xi for example, they are convinced the other side will back down.
If Russia invades the Ukraine and China takes Taiwan, there won't be enough fans on the planet to cope with all the muck flying about.

In both cases the West will not act.
Redraw defensive lines perhaps, but nothing more. The risks are just too high.
