Edit: out of interest, I checked the BBC US section, a couple of posters on this site have been critical of soft UK reporting on Biden, no headline on this although there are two headlines criticising Trump...... interesting. But then, I slag off nearly every politician. I'm pretty consistent. Finding something good to say about them is pretty difficult, whatever party, whatever country.

| Biden Reintroduces another Trump policy at the Mexico Border on 22:57 - Dec 10 with 947 views | Dr_Parnassus | Was always going to happen. I said at the time, they only kept banging on about the border because it played into the ''race'' narrative that was the flavor of the month in the media and in the idiots that follow it. The border has nothing to do with race, its to do with illegal immigration. It's the same for any person of any race, its not race specific. They dropped an absolute clanger with their border policy, or indeed alleged border policy. They were playing the youth and the hippy over 45's who are faux socialists for their vote. Simple as that. | |

Agreed, its damage limitation mode really. When Trump was in charge the tag line was ''300,000 deaths on his watch''. I am yet to see ''500,000 deaths on Biden's watch'' headlines as the US is about to hit the 800,000 mark. You have to try and run the fine balance between keeping the economy open, not overwhelming hospitals and helping small business. One of the first things Biden did when he got in was plan to get rid of the Trump tax cuts, many of which were for small businesses, and again much of which in minority neighborhoods. https://fortune.com/2020/10/22 The bloke is a disaster. I think many people are realising now they were hoodwinked by the media, and they are far worse off now than under Trump who presided over one of the best economical periods in the countries history. Some of the taxes imposed are insane. Kamala Harris now one of the lowest approval rated Vice Presidents in modern history. If Trump runs, he wins, that simple for me. [Post edited 10 Dec 2021 23:38]

Firstly it was not 300k but 400k and that was with the pandemic starting. Biden has had the pandemic in full flow with certain politicians (conservative) hellbent on screwing America...for example: "Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt this morning sent a letter to local public health agencies and school districts informing them of the decision and requiring them to stop enforcing any mask mandates, quarantine orders, or any other public health orders that are null and void under the judgment." https://ago.mo.gov/home/news/2 Forgetting Abbot and De santis...and many others.

Border - now using Trump policies, deaths at border highest since 2014. Economy - pumped trillions into a economy that was inflationary without any increase in production. Inflation now pushing 7 percent and rising.

Surely the biggest failure is to use the same policies that you criticised when your opponent used them? It's ridiculous and proves you were wrong, or you're stupid too! The economy this is going to hit people hard if inflation keeps rising. I wonder if it's really 7% or are they (like some suspect is happening here) not being entirely honest about it and stating its lower than it really is, to keep the people off their backs.

Most commentators seem to think US inflation is already primed for 10 percent with 15 percent mentioned in some cases, as the Biden trillions are pumped into an economy with flat production. He doesn't understand lots more money the same or less supply equals inflation. The border issues are a cluster. Biden said Trump's policies were inhumane and said he would be more understanding of the migrants needs. This not surprisingly led to a big surge. Biden changed track but said he would not turn away unaccompanied children, another surge. Now there are record numbers at the border, record deaths at the border and Biden's response is to enact the Trump policies, let no one in and start flying people back to the counties they came from. The same inhumane policies he campaigned against. I see little between Trump and Biden in terms of competence indeed it looks like Biden is achieving the impossible, making Trump's mess worse.

| Biden Reintroduces another Trump policy at the Mexico Border on 06:24 - Dec 11 by Dr_Parnassus | Firstly, you should read what was said and now what you wish was said. You are talking about Trumps last day in office numbers. I’m talking about the propagandists prior to that saying “300k deaths on his watch”. I’m talking about the sound bites and snippets these were prior to the November election which was approaching 300,000, 400,000 wasn't hit until February. Biden has been in charge for a year now, has had ample opportunity to stop and reverse anything he didn’t agree with, yet the numbers have now doubled. Anyone would think that’s exactly what happens in a pandemic…. As the sensationalists were told at the time. Not to mention the fact that the virus spread the way it did due to the Governance in Democratic run states as the Pew Research reported, one of the most respected sources regardless of political affiliation in the western world. That Pew thing is from the start of the pandemic in America. Covid came in via aiports and seaports with noboby being tested - Trumps governments decision. Those airports and seaports are democratic districts so even the biggest of melts can see that in the early days the spread would be disproportionately in those port of entry districts. These days the virus is concentrated in Republican areas, possibly, as their representatives are blocking protective health mandates. They have stopped these at a national level (for a national crisis!) and they are stopping it at a state and district level. No wonder many call the GOP a death cult. | |

That’s why I said it was from the start. State legislation determined who gets tested and when with a collaboration with the CDC, that was not Trumps decision. If the Democrat Governors thought it was a good idea to test, they would. Except they were too busy calling Trump a racist for blocking flights in from China. In reality however Airport testing started to be rolled out on Jan 17, with the first case in the States being reported on the 21st, 4 days later. The virus is not concentrated in Republican areas, there is a slight difference of about 8% which falls within the standard rate of variance. Sorry, you may have to have a re-think on this one.

Wrong, Homeland is controlled by Government not the states so it was a Trump decision. CDC dont make law they just advise but they did balls up the test initially. Democrats only decried the fact that Chinese and foreign nationals were barred but Americans were alowed in with no testing (DHS -Trump) and no form of track & trace (again DHS -Trump) Anyway this thread is on the Mexico border so I'll stop this sidebar.

Incorrect, the CDC conducted tests in airports prior to the first positive case in the States. Simply a fact. Trump banned travel from Wuhan and the Dems called him racist, they were too busy playing their race games to care about Covid. Hence why the pandemic started in Democrat States. They then blamed Trump. If it wasn’t so horrific it would be funny, sadly it was peoples lives. This is about the Mexico border yes. Another correct Trump call that the Dems played the race card with… yet now walking back their nonsense like the rest of their stuff. See Portland now re-funding police as we speak after becoming the murder capital of the States since funding was taken away from the police. The sooner people stop watching CNN and actually have a sensible mind of their own the better.
