| The Russell Martin delusion 03:49 - Mar 13 with 1098 views | Dr_Parnassus | As predicted he was watching a completely different game, and playing a completely different game with different aims and objectives. He came away thinking that was “a really good performance” and of course his favourite word that forms the basis of his delusion… he thought we were “dominant”. Now bad performances are concerning, naturally. But if you think the manager can see them, and learn from them while understanding why it was bad - it’s not as concerning as it could be. Seeing a bad performance and having the manager be completely blind to it and think we were “really good” and “dominant” is a terrifying prospect. I said early in the season that the performance and result doesn’t matter too much to him. If we have a huge amount of possession, regardless of what we do with it, what little we create or where that possession is earned - doesn’t even come into the equation. I have seen and heard nothing since then that suggests that is incorrect. I have also said that he doesn’t appear to think any deeper than how much possession we had, any suggestion his tactics are awful is immediately shut down simply by the justification that we “dominated” meaning no further scrutiny is required. He has form for this and it was picked up and reported on in the Mk Dons media too. He doesn’t seem to understand that having more of the ball isn’t dominating anything and it isn’t an achievement. BOTH teams game plans would be for us to have more of the ball, it’s an inevitability not an achievement, it’s not earned - it’s given. This is the overwhelming concern for me. You can’t learn if you don’t see the problem. | |

| The Russell Martin delusion on 05:05 - Mar 13 with 1053 views | Dr_Parnassus | 35 games gone now for anyone tracking or interested in seeing this “progress” between the first half of our season so far and the second. 24 points in 18 games (1.33 points per game) 22 conceded in 18 games (1.22 conceded per game) 20 scored in 18 games (1.11 scored per game) 20 points in 17 games (1.17 points per game) 28 conceded in 17 games (1.65 conceded per game) 18 scored in 17 games (1.06 scored per game) Decline in every key aspect. It’s not getting better chaps, it’s getting worse. What I want to know is why we keep reverting to the style we know doesn’t work when we are clearly getting results when we knock the 75% possession 700 pass stuff on the head. Makes no sense to me. | |

Think we may be sticking with him for a while according to the noises this season. A notion I am getting less and less comfortable with as time goes by.

After the frustration of travelling watch yesterday's game, to read that load of twaddle by Martin made my blood boil. Sadly I think we goes two steps forward and two back. Yesterday's game was very winnable yet we never looked in the game. I think either someone in the higher echelons of Swansea needs to have a long chat with Martin or he needs to go
