Covid-19 visiting update at Swansea, Gorseinon and Neath Port Talbot hospitals 09:10 - Jul 10 with 1754 viewstheloneranger

"Unfortunately the increased prevalence of Covid-19 infections in our communities means we must once again restrict visiting to our hospitals, to protect patients and staff."

‘Visiting with a purpose’ has been re-introduced in our adult general wards with immediate effect."

It was inevitable. Staff and patients have to be protected. I hope this means GPs won't use this as an excuse to cut face to face appts.

I know much to my angst , my Mums still in but lucky we had the foresight to provide her with her mobile. I can't imagine how lonely it must be for those who needs long term care .

Covid is already on particular wards and by not visiting somehow helps prevent the spread into the wider community ( even though its all around us )

I feel for you mate, I really do.

What the hell is wrong with close family taking an LFT before visiting.

IMHO it's absolute disgusting the elderly are left with no visitors..

I hope your mam, gets better soon mate.

I'm glad she's on the mend.

Does make you think though if lateral flow are all they cracked up to be, surely they should be suitable..

So annoying, if one of my loved ones were in hospital, I think I would go bloody potty with those rules.. I really would.

I suppose it goes back to lateral flow tests were a principle of a calculation for the spread of the disease, they were counted as true information, yet they count for diddly squat for visiting people...

It cannot be the case, if the basis of those tests were accurate and reliable, well why not the bloody hell, take an lft to visit a loved one.

They do seem very accurate. They aren't supposed to be used for those with symptoms, but everyone i know who has had symptoms show positive on these tests

It’s rife in the area, our Daughter and Son in Law have had it in the past 10 days, which means we have to have our Grandson to protect him. Yesterday my wife tested positive which, so far, has produced mild symptoms, hopefully it will stay that way.
I’m camping out in the back garden with the Grandson. 😄

I’ve just come back from holiday and 3 out of the 4 of us have it, picked up via LFT. That said, I’d been feeling a bit rough for a few days in the build up to testing positive and all my previous LFTs have been negative.

It is rife at the moment, but the pressure on hospitals seems to be generated more by the response to the virus rather than the virus itself. At some point the question is going to have to be asked about how necessary the continuation of self-isolation is.

Having said that, if my MiL's experience last weekend is any indication, the Rona pales into insignificance in its impact on A&E compared to drunks and druggies.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
