Welsh International defender of interest to Swansea City 11th Jul 2022 09:00
Swansea City have been linked with Brentford defender Finley Stevens. The nineteen year old is believed to be available on loan for this season. Traditionally he plays on the right hand side of the pitch. 0

Can't see how he'd fit with us. Defensive fullback, he's not a winger or someone who would step into midfield.

Indeed, but if Martin is going to change his formation at certain times ?

Do we need to loan a player in for that?

He'd be better off going to a club in need of a conventional right back for a back four. From what I've seen of him for Wales u21s the Championship may be a little soon.

Can understand a permanent transfer, but a loan signing would serve us no purpose at all

Do they still owe us for not turning up in 2021?

If we were after a Wales u21s fullback on loan this is the one we should have been looking at.

The academy has done well for Swansea without doubt but has hit a moment of truth. The club is well stocked with 19-22 year old potential but they now have to deliver or be moved on. Martin it seems will be brutal. His trusted workmates Williams and potential boss Allen have already gone. Bennett Fulton heading out and Dhanda never really cut it.

He is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Polite decent kind caring and brutal as required.

Benda, Williams, Brandon Cooper, Ollie Cooper, Garrick, Cullen, Whittaker Joseph are all at the point of decision. All should be honed in possession football but probably not up to Martinball standard. Cameron Evans has already been shown the door.

The future is brighter for Congreave, Abdullai, Rushesa when fit and Cotterill. The older guys will be grafting hard to get into Martins squad and must obey his instructions. Garrick w could be a WB. He did not perform that well at Plymouth in that role apparently but practice makes perfect. Martin must be forced to develop players not just chose players off the shelf that are no ellite like Steve Cooper did. Goykeres needed time love and care and got it at Coventry not Swansea.

Premier league teams treat Championship teams with a degree of contempt and like to leave things to the last minute. Warnock was fuming for example when Liverpool sent Grucic to germany after lining him up for Cardiff and leaving them no time to find anyone else. Frank had the player in his first team all last year so knows all bout him. no reason for a last minute decision.

This last minute activity results in a loan player game of musical chairs. Finlay Burns was the one left free when Swansea called and he was not ready for action and never looked keen. Mr Allen's close links with Man City was an illusion it seems. Doyle was far better but went to Cardiff. of all people. Cooper had Guehi lined up for months before however.

At least we got there and finished in the top six unlike the season just gone where we finished in the bottom half whilst conceding 70 goals in the process.
