Apparently they wanted him to sign an end of season contract which stated if Southampton went down he walked.

A bit odd.

Next season could well see more southern clubs replacing northern ones in the Championship.
Both South coast clubs in Soton and bluff could well go .
We could also lose Wigan Zhudds and Blackpool and replaced by Ipswich and Plymouth . It’d be like the old Southern League
It is going to be real dogfight for the last relegation place .

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

It means Cam Toshack remains available if Winter and Levien decide to get rid of Martin.

Interestingly, Huw Jenkins said in a recent podcast interview - he would always get rid of a manager with about 8 games to go so the new manager can start planning for the season ahead - the best example was Roberto replacing Jackett in Feb 2007.

Makes sense as it gives the incoming manager 2 /3 months or so to get to know the team and time to plan the changes they need to make over the summer.

Unfortunately Sousa has just taken a job in Italy ☹️
