If we get too far behind eary doors I can't see us closing the gap. We had a hell of a run at the end of last season and almost got to the play offs, but it would be very hard to do that again

Last season the division was pretty poor as a whole. We should never have been that near the play offs, most other seasons we'd have been over 10 points short.
In 2020/21 66 points would have been in 11th place, 11 points short.
Then bear in Mind Forest were bottom when Cooper took over, a fair few more games in than 3 and they went up.

after 3 games we had one point a goal difference of-3 and were 20th this season we have 2 points a goal difference of -1 and are 18th

We do, but I kind of feel we are.
In isolation, yesterdays game wasn’t great, but it was better than the week before and you can see that both
The players are starting to get used to the way he wants us to play
There’s still a hell of a long way to go
We won’t go on either kind of Martin run. We won’t win 9 out of 10 games, but we won’t pick up a handful of points in 3 months either.

Way too early to be making any sort of judgement on Duff in exactly the same way it was way to early to be judging Martin after a handful of games.

He took way, way too long to get there, but he did get there in the end, just a few games too late for the playoffs, which is probably why he now finds himself at a bigger club with better players.
A lot of people concerned he could have reverted to his old style at any moment, which he did have form for.

You can easily say that stubbornness got us on the cusp of the play offs, those last eleven games were immense. And for me had we got in the play offs we would have won them the form we were in.
And on your January transfer window comment, the owners shot themselves in the foot. That wasn’t Martins fault. They made that decision. TBH I’ve liked all our managers since being in the championship and view them with little judgemental opinion.
