Autism Awareness ... 13:14 - Sep 8 with 1059 viewstheloneranger

This is such a lovely poem to explain Autism.

Autism is:

Unable to speak, or maybe speaking too much
Hugging everyone, or disliking touch
Escaping outside,
Or trying to hide
Excitedly flapping
Inappropriate clapping
Autism varies so much

Won't wear a coat, or wears one all year round
Fussy eater, or would eat dirt from the ground
Screaming or humming
Annoyingly drumming
Toys in a line
The same way every time
Autism varies so much

Struggling to learn, or has wonderful gifts
Obsessions of numbers, trains, films or lifts
Spinning around
Throws things on the ground
Constantly spitting
Aggressively hitting
Autism varies so much

Alone without friends, or controls every game
Always looks different, always dresses the same
Swinging on doors
Head banging on floors
Freaks at the dryer
Keeps climbing higher
Autism varies so much.

Can't answer questions, won't do as they're told
In their own world or bossy and bold
Over prepared
Anxious and scared
A spectrum so wide
But they all bring us pride
When autism touches our lives.

I support autism awareness...

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

I can relate to that so well , I have family who one boy has been diagnosed and another wth a lot of traits described in the poem .They say that most of us are on the spectrum, just where that maybe.

Best wishes to you all its a dreadful and arrowing condition, Mrs works at a special needs school and there are some children with that spectrum and its difficult on times.

We got a disabled lad he's 27 shortly and he can be hard work because of the severity of his condition, which causes him to have quite serious chest infections, he's in hospital at moment.

But I'm thankful that we haven't got an autistic child/adult, because it must be really very hard to cope on times and very challenging.

I've a mate who is on the spectrum and he is one of the cleverest intelligent handy people I know and he's done extremely well in his life, he unfortunately has a lad with Autism as well

Hi Max ,sorry I've seen your post.Im so sorry to hear of your lads' condition it must be mentally draining at times ,I always think how lucky my wife and I were to have healthy kids, but the burden of having a child with special needs has fallen on one of them and for us it's sad we can't do a thing to help them.As you say autism can be wonderous in the fact that some excel in so many other ways .
All the best wishes to you and your family

He's home now, bit of a rigmarole has the respiratory team had arranged for oxygen team to come to house and set up two machines and leave traveling bottles, Hospital obviously wouldn't let him home without being on oxygen, so I had to come home pick bottle up and then go back and fetch him.

He seems happy to be home at least, few smiley moments, Mrs rough as toast so I've taken over his care for now, can't risk him catching Covid,

It hasn't stopped her running around house in a mask and gloved up busting a gut doing washing and cleaning though, I've actually managed to sit her down now, I don't know how she does it, women are the weaker sex apparently, what a load of horse shite that statement is.

Women are by far tougher mentally and physically.
How our mums did in days of no household appliances still amazes me
