When men were men , living in an area where there are lots of steps I was always in admiration to those who collected our steel bins, sometimes filled with ash from the coal fires ( thats they they were called ash carts back in the day) .collected from the house , emptied and returned, nowadays our youthful ,gym obsessed "refuse technicians " won't walk more than a few feet from the lorry to pick up a bag of plastic bottles. We always used to give a Christmas box/tip in gratitude to their hard work ,not so now.

What a great documentary that was. Thanks for posting.
Doubt any of them are still with us today though.🙁
Know the young lad in the dai cap from somewhere and the ginger bloke in the joggers looks familiar too. Might be football but I'm thinking regulars in pub or a club. They'd both be in their 60s now of course. Some classic cars in there fair play.
Tescos on the Kingsway at the end when you could park round the back free of charge!
