I couldn't agree more, his influence on convincing every coach in the UK to play the same way has been to the detriment of football in this country in my humble opinion.
Football today has become a bland stats driven robotic game played by robotic players obsessed with keeping possession.
It will take years for his legacy to flush out of the system of clubs. Hopefully the game can evolve into something a bit more entertaining and free flowing to repair the damage he has inflicted upon us fans watching sideways and backwards football every week.
Technically brilliant and very successful so I cant argue with that at all, IMO this style has created a game that is no longer that enjoyable to watch. | |

I have a different view.
They are a joy to watch. Superb movement pace and interchanging of positions. All players comfortable in possession including the goalkeeper / sweeper I noticed at the stadium in October that their passing accuracy and pace is difficult to stop. No one has said it’s the only or best way to play. Arsenal have taken an alternative approach which involves more emphasis on set piece success including long throw ins which are back in “ fashion “.
Teams like Bournemouth are also playing a similar entertaining brand of football to City and their 1-1 draw this week was excellent. | |

Completely respect your view, my personal enjoyment of watching a free flowing game full of action is not everyones choice. I prefer to see players taking players on, getting crosses in the box and taking risks and long shots etc rather than choosing the easy ball all the time - just my ageing opinion I suppose. Call me old fashioned but when the goalkeeper has more possession than any other player on the pitch these days it does get boring.
I do acknowledge that the game is different these days and the technical ability is far better but IMO this does not make for many enjoyable games. I do sometimes go to watch non league games to get my fix and quite enjoy the hustle and bustle of these but again this is not to everyone's taste. | |

Played well its a joy to watch, the problem is teams with inferior players try to play that way and can't. |  | | |
