From Zagreb to Swansea: Inside the Global Jacks and Indy Weekend 12th Oct 2026 20:26
The Global Jacks and Indy weekender was something we all needed to share. "Luka Modric." An obvious answer really, if you ask some Croatian fans why they now support Swansea. 1

Those Croatian boys were great. Good lads.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

I would say they definitely enjoyed it …

I'm also a long time fan of Hajduk and have been to the eternal derby and was glued to both the Swans and Hajduk games this weekend both had similar outcomes..

It's a bonkers fixture but incredible atmosphere - the game was stopped a number of times due o the smoke and pyrotechnics on the pitch. Hajduk won 1-0 and the partying in Split afterwards was fantastic.

I'm glad all the Croatian lads enjoyed themselves and hope they'll be at some more games soon.

I went to Split inter railing when it was still Yugoslavia in 1990, lovely place. Did go to Zagreb as well but only for a change of trains. They seemed like they were waiting for a revolution.

Did also spend New Years Eve in Salzburg and that was probably the best NYE I've had.

Swansea is where it is at though

I did the same in the early 90s late 80s some of my mates were out there when the war was on...nutters...I was there a year before that derby game in 2000 a few months after being promoted. Was sat in a bar in Split and noticed we were playing Reading away the next day, in the English paper I bought - been out there and elsewhere nearly a month and were due to go home soon anyway but I bet my mate I could make the game consulting my Thompson's European Rail Timetables Book....

An hour later I was on the train to Ljubljana - from there to Munich (superb scenic journey everyone should try it) Munich to Ostend via Cologne - SeaCat to Dover - Storm in the Channel and me and these Hereford fans were trying to have a smoke outside in a choppy gale...got chatting turns out one lad's dad played for the Swans briefly in the late 60searly 70s....forget the player's name

They thought I was deranged but promised me they'd floor it round the M25 if they got their booze and fags through customs - they did - I got pulled but fair play they waited and it was game on...

Got to the Majdeski about 2:55 and bought a ticket - stewards wouldn't let me in with rucksack - Kind St Johns Ambulance guy stepped in and looked after it...

If you were there and remember some dickhead walking up to he back of the away end looking like Magnum PI in an Hawaiian shirt & flip flops that day that was me

Bumped into Tony Jenkins (RIP) up the back who gave me a lift back to London afterwards.

We lost 5-1 and were shite - Martin Butler tore us a new arsehole and Watkin scored a consolation.

Good fun but my feet were cold and soon wished I was back in Split...!!

Anyway I won the f****g bet !
