2015/16 - 36 points and 11 points clear of the relegation zone
In summary, we're now as likely to go down this season than in three of our four previous seasons, far less likely than we were in 13/14, when we were really in the sh*t until Monk came in and steadied the rapidly sinking ship.
So we can all relax see.

Yeah. Sunderland were in the last relegation spot in 2013/14 when we had 30 points. They were five behind us then with three games in hand. | |

these stats are interesting. was thinking earlier today as we convince ourselves that somehow this is the worst year in the premier league. statistically we have flirted with relegation in 3 of the 5 years until around March( and hence been worried for most of the season) and twice the cushion between ourselves and the bottom 4/5 was generally enough to stop the harbingers of doom.
surely this will be the story for as long as we are in the Premier League - more likely to be looking down than looking up, but been pleasantly surprised when this is not the case (as opposed to turning into bertie big bollox and assuming next stop Champions League)
And yes, I know Leicester have shown there is the possibility for a blip, but that is almost certainly what it is ... | | | |

Suppose the difference is we accumulated those points more evenly throughout the season and were never really struggling for the most part, whilst this time around we've picked up almost half our total just in the last ten games. | |
