Question for the history experts - what's our history on 19:33 - Jan 10 with 1460 views | ItchySphincter | The league doesn't belong to the English and as founder members of the third division we have every right to play in it. It's not our fault that the Welsh set up their own league afterwards.

Question for the history experts - what's our history on 20:21 - Jan 10 with 1400 views | JackFish | We definitely weren't in the league before Newcastle, but yes, we joined when the Southern League turned en-mass into the third division, and then third division (south) the following season. It actually is called the English Football League now, by the way.

The league does belong to the English FA and they very kindly allow us to continue playing in it and even represent them in Europe.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

This. We were invited/elected to the league in 1920/21. Well after Newcastle, but we've every right to be in it. Although whilst it's the EFL, it is the Premier League (no mention of England). We joined at the same time as: relegated. Brentford F.C. Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. Bristol Rovers F.C. Crystal Palace F.C. (initial champions in 1920—21) Exeter City F.C. Gillingham F.C. Grimsby Town F.C. Luton Town F.C. Merthyr Town F.C. Millwall F.C. Newport County A.F.C. Northampton Town F.C. Norwich City F.C. Plymouth Argyle F.C. Portsmouth F.C. Queens Park Rangers F.C. Reading Southampton Southend United F.C Swindon Town F.C. Watford F.C.

Thanks for this. It's amazing how many of these clubs have survived - should be a great centenary in three years' time, whatever division we're in.
