Martin Luther King Jr made his famous speech on Aug 28th 1963 in Washington DC.

To celebrate the 57th anniversary, the BBC's Radio 2 are only playing music by black artists today.

Am I the only one who sees the hypocrisy in this?

I wouldn't call it hypocritical, more short-sighted and one-dimensional. Then again, this is the BBC. So I'd say it's on point for them.
Luther King wanted nothing more than to be judged by his character. I don't think he'd have endorsed a full programme of music with only one prerequisite - skin colour.

Be all means, celebrate the great man! Play contemporaneous music of the time, play anti-racism songs. Why not add some anti Vietnam war songs too for example? Make it more complete, with a central theme of love and peace. That would be a lovely show to listen to. That would better reflect what he stood for.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
