After a discussion surrounding Transfermarkt figures, and also squad strength I was interested to see how we fare and relating it to league position. Now these are rough market valuations but all players are judged the same so if Roberts looks undervalued then its likely someone like Buendia would be too etc etc The brackets is the index, the +/- means how they are performing in the league compared to squad value rank. It is listed as follows:- 1) Bournemouth - 112.4m (-7) 2) Norwich - 110.8m (+1) .................................................................... 3) Brentford - 95.6m (-1) 4) Watford - 81.6m (+2) 5) Blackburn - 66.2m (-10) 6) Swansea - 58.6m (+3) ..................................................................... 7) Reading - 54.1m (-1) 8) Cardiff - 52.4m (-1) 9) Stoke - 51m (-2) 10) Forest - 48.7m (-8) 11) Boro - 46m (+3) 12) Bristol City - 45m (-1) 13) Derby - 40.2m (-6) 14) Birmingham 40.1m (-7) 15) Huddersfield - 36.4m (-2) 16) Preston - 33m (same) 17) Millwall - 28.5m (+7) 18) Sheff Wed - 27m (-5) 19) Barnsley - 26.3m (+14) 20) QPR - 25.9m (+8) 21) Luton - 18.5m (+7) 22) Coventry - 14.5m (+2) 23) Rotherham - 14m (+1) 24) Wycombe - 8.2m (same) Interesting that in the top half of the squad value list, Swansea and Boro are the most over performing team in relation to their squad value, Watford just behind. Barnsley the over all over performers in relation to their squad value. Remarkable how close to the actual league table this squad value list is too, apart from the obvious couple of outliers. (More than half the clubs find themselves within 3 positions of their squad value to league position comparison). 6th/7th is the position I thought we would be in and around prior to the season starting. Hard to argue against. [Post edited 18 Mar 2021 13:29]
