| Envoi Allen @ Cheltenham 20:48 - Mar 17 with 769 views | britferry | - A racing punter won't rest easy tonight with more than £500,000 on the line - Paul Dean placed a £5 accumulator last June, when betting on Royal Ascot - By placing the bet so early, he got higher odds than the current bookies' prices - Now if Envoi Allen wins tomorrow, he could win over half a million pounds - Betfair have confirmed that he has been offered £275,000 to cash out So would you cash out ??? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sp | |

| Envoi Allen @ Cheltenham on 20:55 - Mar 17 with 759 views | Catullus | Too right I'd cash out. 275k sorts out ALL of our debts and leaves us with 180k in the bank. I don't know this punters position, perhaps he doesn't need the money so will let it ride, or perhaps 275k isn't enough? Either way, it'd be more than plenty for us. | |

Yes I did read it, thank you. He was offered £275,000 to cash out that bet. If he refuses, he is betting £275,000 on one horse race tomorrow. Like I said - if he isn't already financially well-off, he has a severe gambling addiction and should seek help.

I bet (see what I did there) that he will take it as I suspect that he hasn't got a gambling addiction with only putting £5 on an accumulator, now if he put it on the nose I'd say he might have a problem. And btw you are still a berk for not explaining yourself clearly, but that just comes with the territory.

I normally do accumulators so I would definitely cash out as I am not an addict. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Me as well. Saying that I would of probably cashed out before now. Anything over 50k has to be hard to turn down.

Exactly. It's a terrible offer from the bookie, it depends on the punters personal financial situation, but if he doesn't 'need' it I hope he leaves it ride, if the bookies were trying a low ball offer it should have been 300k, I would push them for 400k. Even at 1/2 it's the equivalent of putting down 340k to win 510k so looking at it like that 350k is nearer the mark. I seen it online the guy studies form for hours, apparently he has 20k in his betting account (sounds like profit), if that is so he will know it's not the greatest offer, in fact he could sell the bet for more than they are offering, he could sell it for 300k, the purchaser in that scenario would make 210k (bet due to return 511k if Envoi Allen wins), if they just put the bet on with a bookie even at 1/2 they would only make 150k, just shows what a poor offer the bookie has made him.

| Envoi Allen @ Cheltenham on 08:30 - Mar 18 with 588 views | pikeypaul | He stands to win £511,000 the current lay price is 1.46. So the correct cash out amount is £511000/1.46 so £350,000 to the penny. Cash out is the biggest money making gimmick the bookies have ever invented , they screw you with the price on the way into a bet and then with cash out they try to screw you again. They want to pay him out (cash out) at around 25% less than the now true value of the bet. If they offered me around £350,000 (the true value) then yes I would take it. Otherwise I would just raise as much as I could and just lay the horse myself at the current 1.46. The thing is they know most people sitting on a good accumulator ticket will cash out and take their derisory offer. [Post edited 18 Mar 2021 9:07]

Yes and they would bite your hand off and give you the £325000 I guarantee you, since it’s £25,000 less than it’s true value of £350,000. If he hasn’t already foolishly accepted the initial offer I guarantee they will increase sometime this morning. [Post edited 18 Mar 2021 8:35]

It would be interesting to see the way they have carved that up and the numbers involved. Very easy to see how much they would have under paid him going on the current odds, but 99% of people have not got a clue, I just hope he was not one of them and made a counter offer way above their 1st. edited, just seen hes taken £250k if it loses £300k if it wins so has in real terms cashed out for the equivilant of around £288k when you do the maths.the bookies must be laughing their heads off.
