| Swansea City succession planning post Steve Cooper is already underway on 19:05 - Jun 15 with 1381 views | glanmORJa_k | The signing of Whittaker became the first inkling of a change of direction, despite the call for a recognised, no doubt more expensive striker, while the Joseph signing on a 4 year deal along with the possibility of signing an inexperienced, yet promising Dutch striker, Millwall's young striker Abduliker, plus an unprecedented host of trialists in the club's PDV U23 team during the last third of the season has certainly bucked the trend regarding player recruitment at our club. Make no mistake, should Cooper decide to move on, Winter will have a replacement lined up and based on his experience at Huddersfield it will be a coach performing extremely well in a Bundesliga reserve team and who would jump at a chance to be head honcho at a Championship club. The club is changing, and Andy Scott will have a huge part to play and no doubt be another feather in his cap should his recommendations be successful. | | | |

When we were in the PL, that was a narrow band. Now it's significantly larger. Succession planning, whether that be for players or coaches, is absolutely mission critical. Someone like Andy Scott (or before him Kevin Reeves) can potentially be worth ten times their salary. Of course we're going to be looking at players with potentially large sell on value regardless of whether or not the current clodhopper in charge is capable of getting a tune out of them. The clodhopper in charge changes regularly. Young talented players far less often. As far as Winter goes, his job is trickier. Getting the manager wrong can have far reaching consequences. It's apparent that Cooper was the wrong choice. We can't afford another bad one.

Both parties want a clean break. He won’t walk away from a contract and we won’t sack him when we could get compensation. Problem he has is that the clubs he’s linked to, he’s literally 3rd or 4th choice, if Palace wanted him badly he’d be there by now but they are waiting to see who else comes up, as they did when Nuno become available and left Cooper on back burner.

Someone told me he will be gone by close of play on Friday. Don't be surprised if Grimes follows in a few weeks.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

That kinda sums Cooper up. An alternative option. Nowhere near first choice.

i know you should be careful for what you wish for etc, but I'm not bothered if cooper goes and Grimes has maybe earned his chance to play in the Prem, be interesting to see how he gets on there.

Im just hoping some one does come in for him, as much as he has done incredibly well, the football has been awful. I also feel he has done what he can with this squad. fresh start is best for both parties IMO.
