The price of away tickets 18:09 - Aug 12 with 1220 viewsbuilthjack

Expensive. Whatever happened to the £20 maximum that they were going to bring in ?
£33 for Bristol City away will put lots off.
Most clubs are around the £30 mark.

Fair play to Cardiff. £20 I am told they are charging away adults, and lower for elderley and kids etc.

Stoke are again giving free coach travel, or heavily subsidised. 8th year running they are doing this.

Thoughts?

Many clubs are struggling after covid (and maybe even from before covid) and so are maybe trying to increase income? I'm not sure it'll work.

As it goes, I don't do away trips anymore, my last away was Cardiff for their brief sojourn into the EPL. I can't do all that travelling anymore. That's why I shall sadly not make the proposed "meet" at the last away game. 20 years ago I'd have been right up for it!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

The deal was based on reciprocal arrangements and a hefty subsidy from the club.
Other clubs are really feeling the lost season more than we are and and need every penny they can get.
I would expect some activity from us on an ad hoc basis.

Better to have 1500 paying £20, than 800 paying £33.
More money from tickets, and even more money from food and drink.
Very short sighted of clubs.

I mentioned this to a mate yesterday, he said basically it’s an extra thirteen quid, if you can’t afford an extra thirteen quid then maybe you shouldn’t be going out at all.

Ok.

Edit - I think this will always sell out. And lets be honest the last time when it all got a bit unfriendly a good few hundred didn’t even go to the game.

Personally noting what the club has done on ST prices I don’t think we can complain too much, particularly noting the Covid loss of income over the last season.

It wasn't just football that had a loss of income though. AT most football clubs who went without money, was it the well paid players or was it the "lesser" staff. People with part time jobs there , Stewards, Gate staff, catering, they lost all that income and they weren't working there for the fun of it...ok some of them maybe, but most of them not!

Maybe it's not just about the price but maybe the value for money? Maybe some people save up for stuff and are limited in what they do, maybe where they take their kids because of the prices.

Why should only people above a certain income be able to do things? What about young people who can only find oart time work, zero hour contracts maybe?

Rant over

The Bristol City game for example could put an extra £50 on a family of four, to what they were paying pre covid. It will definately have an impact on the lower paid.
I forecast 2300 could be down to 1500.

True although the furlough scheme may have helped at least in part - I suspect majority of people will have earned less during Covid but potentially spent less too.

I agree with his logic, it’s an obvious statement, but not when applied to families who travel together as Builthy has pointed out.

However, I think the club has done a lot for supporters in recent times.

I agree. I think Swansea has done more than many other clubs. The big decrease in ST prices was brilliant. Some clubs though see the answer to lost revenue as increasing prices without appreciating that too big an increase will drive punters away, price them out.

I'll go further, in my opinion the people who complain about our current owners might one day realise how lucky we were to be steered through covid without any major problems that other clubs (Reading, Swindon) have had. Check this out,

https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/fulham/transfer-talk/feature/championship-

If not for just 4 clubs spending some money ( we spent 1.8 million according to the website ) then the whole division would be showing a profit, Blackburn have sold for 15 million apparently. I'm not sure how accurate that website is but still, it shows that we have spent when most clubs haven't.

I remember paying 55 when we won in the league at old Trafford. The 20 rule seems to have vanished. I can't understand why we are taking so long to make away tickets available. Club has gone awful with que on the phones and the way it deals with fans queries.

Trouble halving the price of away tickets is unlikely to result in twice as many away supporters travelling. Most clubs take roughly the same numbers of away supporters to matches, depending on opposition and distance to travel. Cutting ticket prices will only have a marginal effect on numbers travelling.

Better to have 800 @ £33 than 900 @ £20.

Shame as the £20 tickets would offset the cost of the train or other travel. Now we’ve got to pay full whack for both or not bother.
