This is the season which will be massively interrupted by the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. So all of this is tentative.
The World Cup, usually held in the summer, this time runs November 21 to December 18, 2022. The latest plans – not final – call for the Premier League to stop play on November 12, 2022, and resume on December 26, 2022. It is also thought the 2022-23 Premier League season will start a week earlier than usual (possibly even in July) and end a week later than usual (possibly in June).
It’s understood the Championship will take a similar break, but Leagues One and Two, and presumably the rest of the English league pyramid, will carry on with a normal fixtures list.
Decisions about the 2022-23 Champions League and Europa League schedules are also not final at this time.

Wasn't Qatar where the exiled Taliban leaders were given shelter? That aside, yes, why send a world cup to a country so hot there will probably be health problems among the players not used to that kind of heat. Remember the WC in USA, they had to have water breaks in each half didn't they? These games could well be massively disrupted. | |
