Those two Wales lads in Gibraltar for two weeks, not allowed out of their hotel, won’t be the most pleasing part of their early careers after a very positive win.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Probably me being less than forensic but what history was made?

Biggest ever win I’m informed.

I have a very nice 2 months in the Rock hotel around April May 1989, Very nice too. I remember diving into the pool and realising too late it was not heated. It was the time of the Hillsborough disaster.

A team from the US under water recovery team were staying there. Robert Ballard who was famous at that time.

Caught the second half of Wales v Switzerland. 0-1. Unlucky not to get a draw. Bodin left out his class midfielder Rhys Hughes for some reason. He created 2 or three good chances in the last 10 mins. Goal keeping mistake for the Swiss goal. Beck should have been played up top.

The team battled hard until the end fair play to them. The Swiss were better technically. Wales struggle losing perhaps 5 or 6 players to the first team. Matondo Johnson Levitt Cabango and Neco would have helped them.

Williams and Cooper were solid. Billy Sass Davies is a big unit.

Bodin's set on his old fashioned 4-4-2. Creative midfielders don't fit the pattern. We'd have been far better with Hughes instead of Jephcott and keeping three in midfield.

Ratcliffe had one of his best games if you ignore the inexcusable mistake he made for their goal. Some very good saves. Not sure how the game ended 11 v 11, there were a few challenges that could have been straight reds (Astley's at the beginning on the 2nd, Pearson kicking out after being fouled). Some very unsubtle diving from their lot as well, unfortunately.

Matondo rejected the callup.

Thinking about it there was Cabango, Levitt, Johnson, Colwill, Matondo, Neco W., Ampadu all still qualified.

Huggins and Finn Stevens out injured and two Wolves prospects Chem Campbell and Owen Hesketh keeping their options open.

A good batch.
