“Russell Martin is a manager who has a huge future in the game.” 👍

Sky even mentioned that it's a transition season and a work in process.

I think anyone who understands football and can see the big picture can see the change at the club and the rebuild that is required.

He will if he starts to learn and erases the stubborn streak in him.

Transition seasons do not exist and will never exist, regardless of what Sky say. They are parroting fan cliches that simply do not exist in any realm.

We have changed our style many times in our history, we have never needed to write off a season in order to do so. It’s a myth.

But as for Martin, there is potential there for sure, but he appears to be a very slow developer. People of similar age and experience do seem way ahead when it comes to their adaptability, ability to learn and man management skills.

It will be up to him how far he goes, and that’s largely down to how much he can improve on the above - or indeed is willing to learn to improve the above.

I wouldn't go that far but on a thin squad, last 3 games have certainly shown a lot of positives.

I don't think Martin is a million miles off getting the the spark to catch, we are in need of one or 2 starters on the pitch, I can see what we could do with in pushing on so I am sure Martin does.... Once you get it then it's not guaranteed like a jigsaw piece.

Now that's a top post.

Martin needs to be atleast given the chance but we are not at the end of the road to know if it's a success or not.

Yep, as it stands we have won 1 of our last 7 and sit in 17th place. That is almost an unknown for us in recent history. He has never had a top half finish in his managerial career.

There is a tendency to go overboard whenever we don’t lose, which probably says a lot about the state we are in. I don’t remember seeing a mentality like that among fans since the mid 90’s where any sort of a point felt like a win.

That’s not to say he doesn’t have potential though, he does. Recent games have been far more encouraging, the ridiculous possession seems to have dropped off and is among the lowest it’s been all season and is coinciding with better results and performances.

I’m treading carefully because last time I got excited that he was learning and we were playing sensibly we slipped back almost immediately.

58% and 57% in the last two games, and we haven’t conceded a goal. It’s not a coincidence.

When we have 75% possession it means we are almost guaranteed to get dispossessed or give the ball away in extremely dangerous areas and we ship goal after goal.

We will see what direction we go in, it’s all up to Martin, but as most managers do - he will live and die by his sword.

Try explaining transition season to any board or owners.

No idea what that means I’m afraid.

No twisting going on, it was top 6 wasn’t it? You did also say top 12, but you were encouraging people to back the play off finish.

The pathetic thing of course is trolling on the forum of a team you claim to support.

Start trolling people on a football forum simply for giving their views my lad and these things will be brought up I’m afraid. Be more wise with your words would me my advice, or at least try to add something to the discussion.

Nope just checked. Top 6 you said.

Now from someone who is in the top of his field with odds compilation I did think that was a bit odd as clearly not any sort of “rick”.

“Top Half...Top 6
at 23:15 29 Sep 2021

Now I'm very seasoned in what I am going to put forward here......my job is to compile odds (30 years)....and I smell a rick.
In places we were 16/1 to be Top 6...prior to tonight. Had 50 on that. Stupid odds...(they changed it to 9/1...) It's massively shorter...no more than 4/1 in my opinion.”

You then went on to talk about your other bet which was top half.

But to pretend you weren’t going on about your top 6 bet and it is me that is twisting it is a bit pathetic really.

Don't be so stupid....I've been in betting for over 30 years...it's my profession. I said we wouldn't be out of the Top half. It was a stupid price and I gave my reasons. I don't have to justify it to you. We'll be Top 12. Have you watched the sh@t that other teams in this league serve up every weekend?

The fact you can get £50 down at a bookmaker at those odds after 30 years suggests you aren’t anywhere near as profitable as you think you are and there most certainly wouldn’t have been the liquidity there on the exchange.

I have been a sports trader all my life, I can’t remember the last time I was able to get 50p down at a bookmaker let alone £50 at 16’s.

You said you backed Swansea to finish in the top 6 and top half. Not sure why you are denying that.

Maybe next time instead of trolling someone, give a reasoned response.

£2000 at 5/2 at a bookmaker, on a Championship derivative market?? What have you been smoking? Your account must be VIP to the max.

Main bet or not, I asked you about your top 6 bet - you seemed to deny having one. Yet it was in the title of that thread and encompassed the whole opening paragraph of which I just quoted.

Maybe next time give your on topic opinion instead of giving it the big one.

Certainly possible, but far from definite and nobody should be raiding any savings or houses to be putting money on that’s for sure.

1 win in 7 and a tendency to drop what works and revert to what doesn’t is not a recipe for a safe bet.
