Have been to Sunderland and Newcastle quite a few times. 9 or 10 in total.
Last time in Sunderland we stayed at the Hilton next to the ground. David Moyes was Sunderland manager and sat next to us for dinner. Nice chap, but the job was wrong for him.
We filled the away end, and had a few thousand in the home seats.
From memory, I think the players paid for a pie and a pint for every fan.
