Which was the reason for my OP. Next season will see the Prem League even more split from the mega rich to the relative chaff. My point was/is that there are huge clubs now out of the Prem League, clubs which were ALWAYS in the top flight. Do you not agree that it is fair comment.

If the leagues were ranked on ground capacity, Cardiff would be in the Premier League and we would only just be in the championship.

Whitey. That is not my thrust. I am talking of clubs, famous ones really, who have achieved. Cardiff to me are a nonentity. We could of course quit posting opinions and observations so as not to irritate . I should idea the idea of a great old clubslike Wrexham,Grimsby ,Notts County in the Vanarama is also hard to grasp.

I agree that there are huge clubs no longer in the Premier League, but it has always been the case that the leagues evolve. Many large clubs steeped in history drop down the leagues and a new order is formed. For 7 seasons we were one of the new order, did we have a right to be there, yes. Do we deserve to be where we are now above the likes of Wednesday, Derby, Sunderland and Portsmouth ect, yes. As I say the football order evolves, mostly down to money, but not always. One thing for sure is history gets you no bonus points in football.

Good riposte and thank you. I just hope ,truly,we have a decent team to follow next year so I will be more motivated to travel. I shall be hoping filthy Leeds get the drop today as its barely 90 mins from me and a great city .Not exactly a pleasant place for away fans but on their own Leeds fans are ok,as people many good company.

Sheff Wed featured in our promotion season from the 3rd Diivision in 1979. Leeds featured notoriously in our Championship win under Roberto. Derby haven't been a huge club for a long time. So has beens for the most part, I would describe them as. Newcastle ( although the cash injection may see it change ) attract massive crowds but have won nothing for many years

For me ,it's all about the fan base and that remains. Leeds is the 3rd largest city in the UK and has but one football club Derby attracts from all over the county Love of Owls and Blades passed down the generations. Few support the Brands, like Liverpool or Man Utd.

History does seem to get clubs bonus points sometimes as far as the refereeing is concerned

Derby and the Sheffield clubs, I agree are supported mostly by those from their towns. Leeds, I would disagree. Due to their success in the 60's and 70's, became many people's club ( especially kids who were choosing to support glamorous clubs, rather than lowly Swansea Town/ City) . I know quite a few who although they follow Swans, also still follow Leeds.

What I meant was Leeds people support Leeds Utd and for that matter the Rhinos. When I kid,I used to pretend I was a particular player rather than support a club other than the Swans. When we were dire,as a kid, I was reluctant to go to the Vetch . When we went bust I resigned myself to simply finishing with club football a regards support. Swans or nothing. I did have a lot of time for Liverpool FC though before they became a brand to follow.

I have honestly never had a second club. Swans all the way for me. Even now, unless games affect Swans, I only have a passing interest.
