Cameron Evans to Swindon ? 10:53 - Jul 14 with 1118 viewsKeithHaynes

Released by the swans last month ish.
A very low contract offer apparently, seriously low.
But maybe if he believes in himself he should take it ?

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

He should definitely take it and work on the things the Swansea club coaches told him he was deficient in. He seemed to add a lot of beef to the u23 team and he scored a few goals as well. He played over 30 games in Ireland.

Presumably he need to improve ball control and passing as he seemed tough enough when I saw him. If passing, ball control speed and sharpness are not there you belong at Swindon not Swansea.

Absolutely take it. A career in football doesn’t always start at the top and often doesn’t get near there but getting paid for playing football or doing a 9-5 isn’t really a difficult decision

Some of these offers aren't enough to live on, especially if you have to relocate or commute long distances, or have a young family. It's a future of football AND a job not football OR for many, and sometimes the tough decision to give up on a dream can be the sensible one.

I get that but wouldn’t you advise every kid to play at the highest level possible for as long as they can and keep striving to play at a higher level?

Cameron is only 21 and been playing in Ireland. He might have saved a little bit at Swansea who still pay good wages. £600 ? a week is good money for a 20 year old. £1500 a month perhaps is on the limit but easily enough for a a single bloke to get by on. £700 rent and £800 to spend. If I was him being a professional footballer or bust.

He can succeed at league one level, but whether he can survive financially is down to him. He needs a good season.

He’s 21, time to realise his ambition.
