... is impossible to answer.
The issues seem to be so complicated, there are so many factors, and so many things we can't possibly know (re: their childhood and home life).
I couldn't make any judgements on them, their parents, their siblings, their teachers, their peer group.
Any opinion offered would be shrouded in ignorance.

The article alludes to that today their problems would have been probably spotted at a young age. As we are now generally more aware of mental illness. If that's the case, so sad what these two young girls went through. Possibly could have lived a far more conventional life at an earlier age. |  | | |
