He hasn’t shown he is capable thus far.
I don’t believe he is capable without fundamentally changing things, if he is willing to change then yes I’m pretty sure he can do an awful lot better than he has been.

Surely he could see how much improved last night's performance was. We attacked at speed and in numbers. We looked dangerous and effective.
The only time it was bad was when we insisted on fannying around at the back. It was heart in the mouth time every time we tried it.
I'm actually looking forward to QPR now. If only he plays like that again.

whilst last night was better the same old issues were present we were lucky not to find ourselves 1 nil down in the opening minutes following another mistake from this playing out through Fisher. We were lucky the chip hit the post and the rebound put wide. we then got our goal played with more pace and intent than of late..even Sorinola shone with him getting lots of space.Oli Cooper was a revelation hopefully he will start more.Despite all of this we yet again gave away a late goal yet again after changing the shape of the defence...and poor keeping from Fisher .

No, it's just one opposition with their first game under new management. I thought Stoke in general play was extremely poor.
Plus points was Sorinola improved, but still looked like a league one player for me. Some wingers in this division will destroy him, so weak in the tackle, but was more involved going forward, great cross for the goal, but I thought he could have been more clinical with the passes and crosses after the goal. Still think right wing back is an absolute must.
Oli Cooper played really well, It was just nice to see some running legs in the team further up the pitch. Still early days to see if he can produce that every week. Last night proved Ntcham continues to be not the fit for us.
Hopefully playing Piroe at top last night has ended his deeper role in the team, looked more threatening with our best striker in his correct position.
I still think we are a long way off turning the corner, these type performances have usually followed up by absolute stinker of a game at home. We still need to turn the risk down playing from the back and when winning need to continue going for goals, I have no confidence in our defence, they show patches of brilliance followed by basic errors. In much the same way as the first half against Millwall was a turning point.
We're still doing the same stupid goal kick routine. We're still trying to defend our way to the final whistle. We're still making the same mistakes. Grimes is still captain. Nothing is being learned and it's hard to see things changing. |  |

I’d love to think so. Like you, I enjoyed what I saw of that game - in my case, more than any performance since Cardiff last season.
But we’ve been here before, and usually when Martin changes tack it’s forced on him by his in-favour players being unavailable. As soon as he can, he reverts to type.
If he starts Piroe as the main striker against QPR (I think he will have to it Obafemi leaves today and Piroe stays), starts Oli (I think he will do that too), tells Fisher not to play the ball short (doubtful) and works really hard on subs and late game management, he could still turn things round.
I agree with you, though, Saturday is critical for him. Last night some of his most die-hard supporters gave up on him. He has very little credit left in the bank of public opinion. | |

Stoke somehow contrived to miss an open goal in the first 5 minutes.
That came from stupid passing in our defence.
We then took the lead and held it until the 90th minute before losing it.
The game had all the key ingredients of every other Martin performance, its just that Stoke are almost as bad as us. | | | |

Look at the result and the time of the equaliser and it negates any enjoyment at all. How can anyone enjoy leading a dire Stoke side for most of the game yet concede a goal the like of which we do all the time,right at the death.
Lessons are not being learned at all. Game management is just that and it passes us by.
It's pointless having young bloods like Cooper who are busting a gut and terrifying the opposition only to bench him late in the game when he is still vibrant.
We have a keeper that is clearly a target for opposition forwards of size as they know he is weak and indecicive
We are still in relegation area,still not winning ,still replicating mistakes .

So I’ve learned not to let the final result spoil my enjoyment of the game - or put a rosy tint on a generally poor performance. Last night I felt there was a lot to enjoy about the way we played. Above all, the proof that we have the squad to do better than we are. A lot better.
