"Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been banned from football for eight months after he accepted breaking Football Association betting rules.
Toney has also been charged £50,000 and warned about his future conduct for 232 breaches of the FA's betting rules.
His suspension starts immediately, but the 27-year-old can return to training with Brentford four months before it ends on 17 September.
He will not be allowed to play again until 17 January, 2024."

The EFL/ EPL are too soft on betting. Such rule breaking should be career ending. I The integrity of the leagues are at stake. This is a slap on the wrist.
The "from immediate effect" sounds tough but is actually weak as he has 2 month summer break included where he can train on his own. What convenient timing. [Post edited 17 May 2023 18:09]

I agree though, this is a small punishment and the EFL/EPL have screwed it up again. They need to make proper examples of these people. Take the fine, how much does he get paid? Reportedly it's 46,000 per week, so not a lot more than 1 weeks wages to go with effectively a 6 month ban.

Speaking from experience some people walking this earth think that the ‘grass is always greener’ on the other side and these people will always show their true colours eventually.
Then Karma comes along and dishes out a harsh reality check and justice is served and at the same time propels some of us into incredibly happy and fulfilled relationships which was missing all along previously!!
