| Swans Indy tip for the top scores on his debut 18:14 - Jul 16 with 986 views | KeithHaynes | OS - Swansea City's Under-18s and Under-21s got their pre-season campaigns off to a flying start with victories over Briton Ferry Llansawel's Under-18s and first team respectively. The under-18s won 3-0 against their age-grade opponents in Llandarcy, with a team featuring plenty of new faces. Sammy Henia-Kamau was amongst the goals in his first outing in a Swansea City shirt, whilst a trialist added the second goal of the afternoon. Swans Indy feature on Sammy –> First-year scholar Iestyn Jones - who has just made the full-time step up to the under-18s - sealed the win with the final goal. Meanwhile, at Fairwood, the under-21s cruised to a 6-1 win over Briton Ferry's first team. Swans debutant Glory Nzingo grabbed a brace following his arrival from France last month. Last season's under-18s' top scorer Iwan Morgan grabbed a goal, with Liam Smith and Ruben Davies also among those to find the net. Sixteen-year-old Thomas Woodward, meanwhile, claimed his first goal for the under-21s after featuring at under-18 level last term.

The Cooper era was tough as Coops was good at bringing elite loans who were predictably better and further developed than the home grown kids. Time for Josh Thomas Abdullai and Congreve to press on. Josh Thomas is ideal for Newport if earmarked for a loan. Newport only have one striker and he is injured.

Newport struggling to retain players with the cost-cutting going on. Aaron Lewis recently moved to Mansfield rather than renewing with them for a pay cut. They stopped looking to us for players when Rowberry came in, preferring Cardiff and Cymru Prem sources since, but it's not exactly gone well for them. If they ask nicely we could lend them a few and get them back towards the playoffs. I'm surprised Liam Smith is with the u21s rather than the seniors, but maybe he doesn't fit Duff's formation (which seems to be a 5-3-2 from the minimal highlights shown).

Yes Sam Bowen (Jason's boy), Waite, Wildig and Zimba all in their squad. An unwise strategy. I believe the three players leaving Swansea have a future Leverrit, Rushesha and Hurford. They could all f do good things for Newport on a decent playing surface and presumably would not be wanting a kings ransom. Swansea academy players have good habits.
