I think they announced the actual people who were in the ground instead of including all season ticket holders as in the past. Possibly fire regs. Deffo only 1500 seats available leading up to the game.

May have been 1500 seats available that is because the 1500 seats in the North East and North West corners are not made available. This happened on several occasions last season when only 50 or so tickets were available on the site one day then the next day another 500 became available in these corners. Something to do with not to have stewards etc until they were needed. I wonder sometimes who makes these commercial decisions. Birmingham sold all their 2000 allocation very quickly and the North Stand has 3000 seats approximately. Why wee they not given another 500 tickets in the away end earning the club £15,000 @ £30 a ticket. The same goes for the current farcical catering arrangements more confusion on Saturday and lost sales. More bad commercial decisions are the non sale of match day programmes loosing match day revenue and advertising as well as banning cash sales anywhere in the stadium and club shops.

Yes, some of the decisions are crazy. If done right the stadium would be full. The catering has been awful, for years. They tweak it, but in the wrong direction. They do surveys now and then, but I am sure they don’t look at them.

Does it have something to do with crowd segregation and concourse facilities? But even so it was several thousand up on first home game since 2018

I thought that there were quite a few spaces in the Birmingham end. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Well from our perch in Upper east 10 there were a lot of empty seats in the family stand and quite a few in the West too. The North stand had a lot of empty seats, the segregated areas were qute large. 1000 empty seats in the North end and lots of empty seats in the South.

They could have let Brum have another 5 hundred or so. Same as us at West Brom next week, we have sold our 2000. We could sell 500 more if given them.

For our catchment area , we should be selling out , towns and city half the size Swansea and not having the luxury of the catchment areas are having bigger crowds

I think its a case of WBA (every club) saying, if you want 500 more, you have to pay for them, if only 250 are sold, it still costs the club full whack which, in that case, will always err on the side of caution.

Well there's Burnley but after that I'm struggling. On the other hand there are places larger than us who don't get that much larger crowds. Cardiff for example, their poulation is over 50% more than Swansea yet they only get around 2500 more on average. Going by the percenatges they should get about 5000 more than us. So it's swings and roundabouts, not everybody in every area is a football fan.
