Remember when Potter pulled out of press conference and sent his assistant the Scots man with a beard? That is when relations allegedly were soured between Potter and those tight fisted Yankees. He has a virus coincidentally.
His recruitment man McCaulley had blown a whopping £7m on players Cooper dispatched after a short assessment, Potter wanted this guy for another £7m from Brentford. The "Yanks" said no.
He might have been a Swansea great perhaps (the ginger Pirlo). We will never know. Toney was available for £1m. Since he went to Stoke it has been a one way ticket to Bristol and league 1 from whence he came.
Buying any player is a risk.. Swansea were offered £17m for Michu and turned it down He only had 6 month left at the top in hindsight. £10m for Wood? Take it we with a 25% sell on clause. The Saints always sell big.

Southampton have offered £7m for Wood not £10m
👍
New Saints offer for Wood as Duff’s first eleven plans for Preston stutter 25th Aug 2023 13:09 Southampton have come back to the Swans with a seven million pounds offer plus add ons amounting to ten million this morning. That has to some extent scuppered Michael Duff’s plans as Wood was expected to travel north for the Swans away game at Preston today.0
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.
Woods didn’t kick a ball for the club and Stoke is a graveyard move for a central midfielder. Squandering a club record fee under your messiah for Clucas was a bigger error than anything under Potter.

No doubt he made some big mistakes with the Siguurdson money. His Recruitment guru Ledbetter had done a tidy job when making one or two signing a season before 2015.
Then the Tabanou, Eder and Borja flops appeared. Ayew and Gomis were actually good signings as were the like of Fabianski Fer and Llorente. Youngster James McBurnie and Byers were good deals.
I never use the work Messiah. Others did and they are the one feeling most disappointed.
