This guy is an ex USAF pilot and flight crash blogger that re views flight crash details. He has done them on celebrities like Buddy Holie, Lenerd Skinnerd and Alhigha ? a hip hop star. He has also covered many US plane crashes.
I learned from this that the auto pilot was not working which is a problem in bad weather. It was tagged as not for use.
Autopilot fairly irrelevant when the plane is full of CO.
The CO issue would never have been detected if left to the British and French authorities. The CO was detected after the family raised funds to find the plane themselves after others had given up. The reporter called it shameful. It is not clear if CO was the primary cause of the crash.

In a statement, Sala's family said the inquest had "shone a bright light on many of the missed opportunities in the worlds of football and aviation to prevent his tragic death".
"The family particularly note the jury's findings that it is likely that both the pilot and Emiliano suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning and that Emiliano was deeply unconscious at the time of the accident, and that the poisoning was caused by a failure in the aircraft exhaust system," they added.
"The family also welcome the coroner's decision to communicate to the relevant authorities her concerns about the safety issues arising from this inquest in order to prevent similar future deaths. No family should have to go through grief from a similar avoidable accident."
Sala had a 58% CO saturation, that is called severe poisoning and he was most likely deeply unconcious which is also true for the pilot. The plane broke up during its uncontrolled desecnt. The plane was declared serviceable during it's last maintenance check. All the evidence they presented says it was the CO that caused it but they can never now prove it 100%.

Good research. It's hard to know if the plane crash would not have happened without the CO issue. They say that disasters like this occur when thre or more things go wrong simultaneously.,

3 or more? I would say having the pilot and the only passenger deeply unconcious is enough to cause this without anything else going wrong. Even if the plane was on autopilot, eventually it would run out of fuel and crash and they would both have died from CO poisoning before that anyway.
