local info for trip to Bristol on saturday
at 05:56 12 Feb 2024

Please buy your tickets in advance as there will be
NO PAY ON THE DAY and this will NOT be changed
There is no hard copy match day programmes any more,
on line version available free of charge on the web site.
A hard copy can be purchased at a cost of five pounds, just ask for further info.

Coming by road.
Do NOT USE M4/M32 route and don't try to negotiate the roads and streets of Bristol
YOU WILL GET LOST
If you are coming by road use M4/M5 southbound to junction 18(Avonmouth) then follow signs A4 Bristol airport
It looks the long way round but its quicker.
Parking is normally in the streets around the area as long as you are there by 10:30am please don't block drive ways or park on corners.
If you are coming by train there is a local train service to PARSON STREET from Bristol Temple Meads
which leave at 25 minutes past the hour, some times on match days the 55 minutes pass the hour have an additional stop at Parson street.
Good train times as most trains from the North or from the London direction arrive at quarter to the hour or quarter past the hour
it takes you two thirds of the way to the ground and walk the rest of the way return by train to Bristol T.M. are at 37 minutes past the hour.
Using PARSON STREET will save you having to negotiate the ticket gates at Bristol Temple meads as there are no ticket gates at Parson Street
You will pass Sainsburys on the left with restaurant,Robins pub again on your left hand side
When you approach the ground I suggest you walk past wickes using the pavement
as the concourse area behind the big new stand gets very congested with bodies
Please make sure you get your train ticket showing PARSON STREET
We are trying to promote PARSON STREET for football fans till Ashton gate halt comes on line.
Split train tickets are available to Bristol from the London area using didcot parkway a your split ticket option
Group save tickets are available(one third off) on GWR trains but not cross country trains
If there are at least three of you arriving by train get a taxi
Make sure the taxi driver drops you in the Ashton Road end as it a very long walk round from the other end
or use the brown buses from the bottom of the incline of the station.
Which depart approximate 13:55pm with returns just after the match finishes
On your return to London or the North the trains leave Bristol Temple Meads at 17:30pm and I think you will struggle to get back to Bristol Temple meads for 17:30pm
Casualty and Holby City were filmed in the City don't ask me about either of the programmes cos I think their both rubbish
The young ones was also filmed in the BS7 area of the City(actually its Bishopston)
Finally the block of flats on the left behind the dolman stand side as you are in the away end is "the" block of flats in "fools and horses"
Bring your camera and turn up early if you want to take any photo's
Pubs possibly best one are in the cumberland road basin area novia scotia pump house and the cottage.

BBC Radio station is radio Bristol which has frequencies and 94:9 and DAB (and 95:5 up till 3pm),
and the match commentary will be on BBC radio Bristol

Please circulate to any other football forums and footy fans you may deem fit
If you need any further info, don't be afraid to ask

discounted train travel from Swansea to Bristol
at 07:03 19 Jan 2019

Glad to hear that the extra tickets have been sold.
Train travel seems to be the best way to travel
Purchase two separate day return tickets.
Swansea to Cardiff
Cardiff to PARSON STREET.
Group save tickets are valid on first great western trains only giving one third off and if you book your tickets from the railway station/s.
You can also reserve seats.
The 29 minutes past the hour services from SWANSEA are very big trains
and this will be the best trains as there will be plenty of room.
Please circulate on other Swansea forums you may deem fit

Bristol City fan here with the local info for Saturday week
at 09:47 14 Jan 2019

Firstly,
don't want to get involved in the full allocation of 2,500 tickets
that's someone else's decision.
So here is the local info for Saturday week
Coming by road.
Do NOT USE M4/M32 route and don't try to negotiate the roads and streets of Bristol
YOU WILL GET LOST
use M4 to M5 southbound to junction 18(Avonmouth) then follow signs A4 Bristol airport
It looks the long way round but its quicker.
Parking is normally in the streets around the area as long as you are there by 1pm please don't block driveways or park on corners.

TRAIN TRAVEL suggest splitting tickets and buy two separate day returns
Swansea to Cardiff and Cardiff to PARSON STREET.
and you can use the tickets on any GREAT WESTERN TRAIN
Buying tickets to PARSON STREET takes you two-thirds of the way to the ground and then walk the rest of the way
If you spot a number 24 get on it in either direction and it will take you the rest of the way.
The XX:29 minutes past the hour trains from Swansea are the best ones and is a very big train.
This will take you to Bristol Parkway then catch the first available to BTM or PARSON STREET
Group save is available which means you get a third off if three of you travel together.
RESERVE A SEAT THE TRAINS ARE EXPECTED TO BE VERY VERY BUSY

local info
Casualty used to be filmed in the City, don't ask me about the programme as I think its rubbish
The young ones was also filmed in the BS7 area of the City(actually its Bishopston)
Finally the block of flats on the left behind the dolman stand side as you are in the away end is "the" block of flats in "fools and horses"
Pubs possibly best ones are in the cumberland road basin area novia scotia pump house and the cottage.
Buy your match day programme before you enter the away end.
BBC Radio station is radio Bristol which has frequencies of BBC DAB
The other lot have the 94:9frequencey.

For those travelling by train on Saturday
at 05:43 25 Jan 2018

Although trains are diverted via Newbury from London,
it only adds approx 15 minutes to the journey time.
The best thing is there are only two stops at Reading and Bath.
No pick ups at Didcot Swindon and Chippenham
