The Frankie Friday Music Thread.....RIP 07:01 - Apr 4 with 2017022 viewsLblock

Here I am starting this from my recovery bed and no clue how to link tunes on an iPhone!

Will stick on my offerings from a PC later unless the other knuckles thread is the preference to use?

House classics and dancey dazzlers only, no hijacking from suicide rock please!

In the beginning there was jack.......

Been meaning to update for years.
Can only be one.......

Yep... not a bad tune 18SOH and video not bad.

However... point of Order!
I think at 49 you're probably in the same age bracket as most of the regular contributors on this thread. I also doubt if many of us take truck loads of Class A's anymore (oh if only)
I agree there's lots of dance music that is instantly disposable but aint that the case with every genre? Many of the gems people have dug up on here give me a warm tingle and those tunes have proper longevity and will be with me forever -- this thread helped me through a difficult couple of months when I was ill earlier this year.
Unfortunately my back is injured yet again (not as bad this time) and the wonder of you tube and it's hidden wonders have my attention again.

Each to their own.

Type in "Nirvana - Girls ( Dj Dima House Mix ) HD (CD)" and I think there's something for all of us there..... I wont paste it up here!

Lblock,

I'm glad this thread is proving good therapy for you personally in the face of chronic backpain.Sincerely hope you enjoy more relief or remission from that b'staad cross to bear. Is it ok for you to sit at HQ without agony at the moment?

Great response to my rhubarb, which was just a bit of gentle chaffing or benign wummery if you will.
I'd worked out that Droid was 38-ish for some reason t'other day and assumed most of the Frankie Friday clique was of a similar age when in fact they're/you're probably close in age to me.
Judging from all the nostalgia threads we all understandably enjoy wallowing in, I'd hazard a guess that most LFW punters are in the 44-52 age range.

Too true each to their own/different strokes for different folks.

I don't mean to be racist but it seems to me that black people make the best music of the last 100 years and Elvis and the Beatles and Led Zepp - 'every beat of the drum you hear is an African beat' - would be nowhere without the influence of the musical traditions kept going by the slaves in the fields. So I'm a fan of jazz,60's/70's soul, ska, rocksteady and most of all reggae..for a small island of just 1.6 million in 1960 ,146 miles in length 25-50 miles wide JAMAICA's musical output since WW2 is just stupendous!

My favourite record shop is the Studio One pioneer early 1960's London distributors Peckings
in Askew Rd,I live half a mile away. Always slagging/winding up ever-smiling Chris Price son of the late Daddy Peckings for being armchair cockney red scum - he just knows me as 'QPR'.. I'll drop in on Friday nights or before and after Sat home games and I'll stand by the speakers for a couple of hours getting pished drinking 1845 from the offy over the road. #HappyDays!
Chris 'cockney red scum' Price who runs the shop open twice a week.

I like taking the piss out of good old egg LFW regular Metallica best.
Heavy Metal (and prog rock as adored by his mate Blobby) are my least favourite musical genres.
Noel Gallacher in this week's NME comments on the band Metallica playing at Glastonbury last summer:
"I clapped Lars (Ulrich) on stage, then as much as I love him - I've known him for 20 years - it dawned on me after about 30 seconds,'Fook,it's heavy metal.' So we went to some acid house tent to relive our youth instead."
LOL

'I'm 18 with a bullet.Got my finger on the trigger,I'm gonna pull it.." Love,Peace and Fook Chelski! More like 20StoneOfHoop now. Let's face it I'm not getting any thinner. Pass the cake and pies please.

Jeff Mills 2nd
I remember seeing him at Voyager at the Complex in August 96 and he was so into it he broke the mixer at one point, it was carnage on the dance floor.

A techno classic they even played on MTV

A bit harder to help wake up this Sat morning

Never too early for those....

I have to make an admission and say I didn't go out in the end last night and was in bed by 12 ! We're going to Elixir of Life at the Electric (Fridge) next Saturday & then the afters at 414 so sensibly thought I'd save my brain/wallet for that.

Nice memories of the Complex it was a great Venue, loved the lava lamp thing that ran all the way up the stairs. I'll have a look on Bedrock :-)

Agree this thread is the don of all threads

Gentlemen of the LFW and QPR in general masses....
Tomorrow is one of those days. Auld enemies re-kindled. It's that lot down the road. The misplaced misguided peacocks with idseas above their station, who think they have all the class whereas in fact they are honed in the image of the old facist knuckle-draggers just now it's bellini's and foi gras spoken of and not Zagger Zigger.
Let us not forget who we are and where we've come from.
We've had factions and fall-outs. Millions of Adel threads. Arry out. Arry in. Bungle Bothers and TF is God splinter groups. Spirit of Gregory has got backs p of some, Holloway viewed by many as inane.
But tomorrow... we are one band of brothers under a blue and white hooped flag.
WE ARE Q P R

I implore you....

I love you all.

Fair play fella

Stay clean

Those days were great. I carry no shame. However we move on and the tumbledryer of life keeps spinning, the memories are good enough -- I dont wanna go back to that behaviour as it would only result in one thing.
