Shocking.

We'll now be told by our western leaders how we mustn't let this affect our daily lives.

...but it will. The threat of having an office sub-machine-gunned will affect freedom of speech. That's because media etc will not risk possible insults to islam anymore.

They win.

Was thinking the same thing. Isn't it odd that this wasn't a suicide attack, though?

Yup.And anyone can get tooled up and conveniently shout "Allah is avenged" just to make absolutely certain you get the "message."

Absolutely, which is why when people go around killing people in their name, they need to do something about it. They don't.

This has been going on for years and I've seen very little action from the good, decent, honest muslim community to stop this. Why?
[Post edited 7 Jan 2015 16:26]

We don't kniow the extent of the help that the Muslim community give to the security forces in the battle against Muslim extremism. This sort of thing happens in very dark places in the security world. We only hear about a number of plots being thwarted but not how.

How do you know that some if not most of those plots have been thwarted because of information supplied by the Muslim community? You don't and I don't because of the very nature of what is going on.

This is why you and I don't see it.

Oh god ere we go. The conspiracy theorists have arrived.

They spoke French???

Try 90% of North Africa who speak French.

So terrorists only speak one language using your logic? What language would that be? 'Terrorist'

Few satirical cartoons 100,000's of thousands of Muslims take to the street in uproar. Fires, riots, murders, threats.

Bombings, maimings, beheadings & killings by people representing Islam - zero Muslims on the streets. Hmmmmmm

Most hypocritical religion known to mankind. Constant victims (they'd have you think) when it suits yet when the shoes on the other foot it seems to be a bunch of silly white hippys out protesting.

Where are you Islamists when you're needed to speak out against your murderous brethren?

I am devastated by this, not just because of the atrocity it is, but also because many of the people who died are brilliant humorists and academics that I liked and respected very much.

This will also bring an anti muslim backlash in France which is exactly what the gunners - or at least their backers - want, it is the best way to recruit new lost youths.

I bought Charlie Hebdo from time to time but I will now get a subscription to it for life.

Terrible news. RIP to all that passed today.

It's hard (for me as someone that isn't a follower of Islam) to say whether they represent Islam or not. In their minds they do, and that is their (or some zealous tw4t's) interpretation of Islam. The majority would say they do not represent islam, and to them they don't. That's the thing when you take an ancient fairy tale and believe it has some relevance to how you should behave. It's yours to interpret. You represent your version.

There does seem to be a leaning towards 'living for another day' usually the conflicts they are involved in is when they are in very much in the driving seat, look at their slaughtering of many Christian groups in the Middle East & Africa, odds very much on their side and small risk of them being killed, always a risk but seems very much they do not fear death if killing in the name of Allah.

You will not change their mindsets, . but many do secretly view the Caliphate as a 'heaven', may not always agree with their methods but are overjoyed that a so called Muslim Empire is taking shape.

Of course you cannot lock away anyone who is a Muslim, you can fight back with venom, any who go from a western country to fight with them are fair game, not a penny spent on reducating 'radicalised ' recruits, they are traitors and tough it might be for their families they have become the sworn enemy, and yes if that means mowing down any that wish to march and demonstrate in Luton or other places, so be it.

You fight fire with fire, if people think you will ever get rid of these people, dream on, you can however slow them down, make it difficult for them to operate, and those who think otherwise really are living in a false Utopia.

Agreed and I had thought of that too but there is still a lot of work to be done publicly, an awful lot. It will take time but as well as all the covert work being done, it needs people to come out and in large numbers. "Enough is enough", that kind of thing.
If there is a fear factor, they need to overcome it. We're living in the 21st century, not the 16th. Easier said than done I know but something has got to happen otherwise people's perceptions will not change.

Remember the "we are not afraid" campaign after 7/7? Some 18,500 images uploaded onto just one website, a couple were mine. The website got global coverage & support. http://www.werenotafraid.com/

Using my social media example earlier (especially with FB & Twitter being so much stronger than 7 years ago) perhaps muslims need to start doing the same. Go on FB holding a picture saying something like "not in my name". I would.

The IRA pissed all over us, it's only a matter of time before Islam does the same.

Guess we'll find out when they have a big enough population in the UK to form a political party a la Sinn Fein, then we'll see how moderate the moderates really are.

Fighting for their country?Do me a favour, some people got very rich on the backs of "a piece of the action".And two of the Freedom Fighters nicely got their feet under the Establishment table.

But it does show that there are some very nasty people, lots of them, that will use hidden agenda's beit political or religious for their own gain.

That's why they need to be stood up to by the people they're supposidly representing, but clearly not.

Unlike anyone in the British government who would never ever get their 'feet under the table' for their own benefit. No course not.

Ireland was & is still occupied by the British & the nationalists decided to fight back & bloody right on them. I think it's pretty clear to see the war is over & peace is the order of the day apart from a couple of dozen gangsters on BOTH sides of the divide.

Comparing the IRA to Muslim extremists is laughable. Absolutely no comparison whatsoever.

Very sad once again there will be an initial anti Islam reaction. These animals do not represent Islam. I am sure there will be calls for greater security and possible ID cards. I do not want a totalitarian regime but if people have nothing to hide then I am all for tougher security measures within reason.

These attacks are getting more frequent. France has a problem due to its huge Muslim population who have difficulty in assimilating into a western democratic French society. Left wing poliiticians don't want to deal with the issue which has pushed the outspoken Marine Le Pen ahead in the the polls.

Le Pen will be the next president of France.

Most of the inmates have been released without charge. Not only that but it's become a propaganda own goal and rallying tool for islamic extremism.

I don't believe any of those held in Guantanamo were ever actually tried. Do we want a society in which you can be banged up indefinitely, without going through a legal process, just because a government thinks you're a ne'er do well?
