We got a fleeting glimpse of Adel Vargas Isla and Austin in those last ten minutes and you have to wonder what might have been if we had not persisted with this crazy knock it long to the cripple tactic for the last 5 months.

I'm too lazy or incompetent when it comes to finding old posts, but I've been calling for this for AGES.

Add Zarate (whenever he is fit or good enough for the people in charge) and we should be scoring plenty.

Vargas missing out lately (when he wasn't injured) has been a crime. He was a thousand times better than Hoilett (nobody can be surprised by this) and he had an impact in the game even playing AGAIN (as always) out of his natural position.

One of the worst crimes we are committing here is to finish the season and still not knowing what's our best XI and which tactic/formation works better for the players we have.

Incredibly, there is still plenty of time.

Zamora been a terrible signing, the fact he is still even getting a game is a sad indictment of where we are as a club. Should of spent 10m on Deeney instead of spunking it on a one legged hairy brazilian beast.

Completely screwed this season up by not knowing what formation to play. Pre season was a shambles and its gone down hill from there.

You could tell after 20'mins that he wasn't getting the better of stones in this game. Everton were there for the taking and we saw in the last 15 minutes what a bit of movement did. They managed to win without trying to 2nd half, they were happy with a point id say. We aren't good enough at the basics so although I'd rather watch Vargas and adel I still feel we haven't enough at this level.

Although we do have Vargas.

He has been handled appallingly IMHO. He's a centre forward FFS. All season, when he has played, he's been shunted out on the right. Today he was shunted out on the left, until Adel (who has previously played on left) came on, at which point Ramsay again switched our most effective attacked outlet, Phillips, to his least effective position, the left, to allow Vargas to play out of position again on the right, leaving Adel as a 'not quite' number 10. Shambolic.

You can blame who you like for this car crash of a season, but, that was idiotic from Ramsay this afternoon.

Can't understand myself why we can't have Adel left Phillips right and little Eddie central.

Re our defence what Caulker did for the first was criminal wandering of forward like his David Luiz in the World Cup. The problem we had defensively dear old flat 4-4-2 needs the wingers to track back and be in the 2 banks but ours will only do it for 20 minutes then don't bust a gut to do it later

Zamora really does look shot now. I said at the beginning of the season that the 'Zamora conundrum' (of having one good game and then one bad game) was solved - he was a player that could be effective for the last half an hour of a game. The problem was that we became over-reliant on him after some good performances this season (e.g. at home to Villa), and kept starting with him and trying to play him for the whole of a game.

Great post. Vargas affected the game immediately and you do wonder why he has not been given more starts. Having said that our defending is woeful and has been all season. Yum was woeful today and we so miss Dunne. Did we really pay £10M for Sandro? He reminded me of a cart-horse today and as for Hoillet , I am not sure who is worse , Him or SWP. Sad to see empty seats everywhere-I think a big percentage of fans have had enough.

CR is absolutely clueless. He has great credentials in the youth set up apparently; that's where he should be. A great decision by our DoF, and a great decision by TF to appoint a clueless DoF. The club is an absolute circus.

What about the header he failed to even connect with? The shot in the second half that went over the bar? How can a 'striker' fail to hit the target so often? I think I had as many attempts on target as him and I was in the stands.

I thought he was getting the better of stones especially early on...he seemed to struggle with him physically. Just a Pity he can't finish as need your strikers to score really.
